I'm working on scenery details, trying to push forward through some bits of layout building I find challenging. So right now I am finishing the bridge where it meets the edge of the baseboard. All the wood will be painted white to blend with the baseboard and I decided the road was too narrow and it went straight into the backscene and it made fitting the Ratio/Peco spear fencing almost impossible, so the rebuild included mocking-up the fence for gradient and lengths.

Space Night

I have 2 projects on the go, and though building work on 1 has stalled due to so far 6 weeks off work after fracturing my hip.  (gravity sucks sometimes, in this case me to the floor via the express elevator off a truck!) however I hope to be back at work next week, Fracture clinic depending)

This is Pentland Junction, my Scotland themed layout, sitting way up north. Here I have now started some scenic details

this bit will be behind the back scene but visible from the station if you looked down the line

and below is New Hall Road, set somewhere in the midlands, and the station has the been the victim of leaky 108s

And the tunnel

Celebrating my layout finally running smoothly, no more track pins popping out, points all working, track joined together properly - no raised joints - it`s been a long learning curve, sometimes very frustrating. Really happy now....
But maybe that siding with the station could me modified into a loop, and....
Now just enjoying watching trains running round.

The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

Today I har mostly been working on the lower level fiddle yard

Wires fitted to point frogs - check
Holes drilled for Seep PM1s - check
15mm square wood cut to lengthen the throw of the rod - check

Now I have the issue of trying to screw the wood into the right position with the boards upside down and thus I'm unable to see the orientation of the points

I have that problem Mick, so I fitted hinges to the side of the layout so I can prop it up. Means I'm not crawling on my knees which are both shot.

Having a run of my Midlands Blue Pullman

Nice layout , the train runs very smoothly. Is it DC or DCC?

Mine, too, Malc. I recently bought a fold up garden kneeler for interior use as I can then lever myself upright :-[

Hi Geoff, it's DCC. There is a decoder in each of the power cars , both at the same address. One has the forward direction reversed.

Exactly as I've done with mine, I've long since given up crawling..

Meanwhile,
I've almost finished the scenery, on Tiree, trying to build up the Mojo to switch to wiring up. Need to make a decision on what buildings are to be lit.

Working on the station hall for Moreteesburgh while contemplating whether I can fit a 4ft extension to Aberffilli (I think I can.. ). Just to lengthen the staging and fit in a biggish viaduct inspired by (but not even resembling the grand size and scope of the original!!) Llanbradach viaduct which was just around the corner of the valley from where I grew up in Bedwas (it was demolished 31 years before I was born in 1938!!  Such a pity!), as was Walnut Tree Viaduct a valley over in 1968..

Unfortunately there aren't many pictures of Llanbradach given how early it was demolished.  It must have been awesome to travel up from Barry via Walnut Tree, Penrhos Jn, Llanbradach and up all the way to Brecon on the Brecon and Merthyr

So Moreteesburgh station hall

Llanbradach Viaduct

Walnut Tree Viaduct (Taffs Well)

Thanks Man, just from google.  Its hard to find much stuff from South Wales and I think its a hugely neglected area for modelling, there was just SO much going on, amazing infrastructure, complex industry, ridiculous traffic levels in its heyday, wonderful geography.  GWR branchlines are nice and all, but the pumping heart of the GWR was in the South Wales Valleys
