On the same lines, UP are refitting their Big Boy as an oil burner instead of coal as part of the restoration.

Hmmm, best read the small print on Hydrogen production - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_production

95% of the Hydrogen produced is from the use of Hydrocarbons (yes @Newportnobby (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=264) Methane), 1t of Hydrogen for a fuel cell produces 9-12t of Carbon Dioxide.
