I am looking to get a Dapol colas 66 but all i've seen are sets with a dummy why do i want a dummy?? i hope this isn't a dumb question.

Mr chapman

Not silly. I think its purly for double heading. Its cheaper than buying two fully working locos. I  was looking at a dummy 67 for the back of a heritage rail tour  ;)

Colas often ran two 66s together, usually one dead-in-tow on the steel runs and also light engine. Not sure why this was although this was around the time of the big 66 swap between GBRf and DRS.

One word of warning with the Dapol 66s though, don't double head on any curves less than 4th radius as the buffers tend to clash on anything tighter, derailing the dummy.

I ended up swapping the dummy loco's body for an EWS one to sit in my EWS depot.
