Title: Cloud storage for club committee use
Post by: Paulwhitt20 on August 28, 2020, 04:23:14 PM
Hi,

For reasons I won't go into I find myself the secretary of our local model railway club.

I want to set up a secure cloud storage account so that the other committee members can share files etc.

How do other clubs share files and what are the recommended cloud storage providers? Are their any costs associated with this or are their free accounts for club use?

Thanks
Paul

Microsoft OneDrive Basic is free with 5 GB of storage.

If the club's maintaining data storage for committee members then you'll likely need to have a set of rules for them to agree to (to cover the club in case a rogue user uses it to store or share something they shouldn't) and someone (ie you) to keep the storage and access to it in compliance with GDPR.

If it is a NFP google offer full suite for free
https://www.google.com/nonprofits/# (https://www.google.com/nonprofits/#)!#apps_for_nonprofits

you'd at least want drive, but access to the docs suite is handy too.
then if you start doing club running videos you have the official youtube account...

I also know that microsoft have a similar offering, but I don't know more than that.  I have used google successfully for other charities in the past.
