Welcome.

You don't say what period you're modelling, but if modern then this may be useful.

There's a wealth of historic information here, but less on dimensions.

This probably wants moving too, as I'd suggest that 3D printing isn't the best bet. You either want etches for the older style 'outline' speed limit signs, or just decals/printed signs for others.

and could anyone tell me the size of the font and the size of the signs

JosephJunction

Can any one tell me the fount size for the writing signs

Small. 3pt maybe? Try it. You'll get about a million signs per piece of paper, so try a few.

Hi @JosephJunction,

I had similar questions for Modern Image speed signs, basically they are typically 600mm (slow speed) or 900mm (high speed) in diameter.

I still need to do some for my layout and I'm planning to use a 6mm hole punch and some thin plastic card to punch out the actual signs, then mount them to some thin round plastic strip, probably 0.5mm for the posts. Then I'm going to print some sign faces onto decal paper.

Thanks to @Railwaygun for the link to Sankey Scenics, all my searches had missed them and it might mean Heworth sees some speed limits sooner ;-)

Cheers, Mark.

Thanks for these reply's it will help a lot

Why not print directly onto large sticky label sheet ( available in A4 ) , stick it to thin plastic sheet, and then punch them out??

Wanted to make sure I had a satin finish rather than matt, but could print onto photo card and then just use that, doh!

Always another way ;-)
