Hi,

just a query, perhaps someone will know the answer.

the Farish FNAs, like the Bachmann OO ones, appear to have numbers on the top of the white section, and the description on Hattons refers to 'flask number 14' etc.

while most photos I've been able to check do not show the roof of the wagon, the one that I did manage to find did not show any number.

also, I was under the impression that the white part of the wagon was a cover, which was slid along to expose the flask for loading and unloading. if this is right, then surely the flask number would not be visible with the cover in place.

have Bachmann / Farish got this wrong by placing the number on the top of the cover, or is this in fact the number of the wagon, not the flask.

cheers in advance for any help with this

alan

If the wagon carries whole numbers on the end of a wagon it doesn't have roof numbers. If the end of the wagon carries two numbers on the end then the roof has numbers.

The number is indeed part of the wagon number (the last two digits).

You are also right to say that the white part is just a cover and the flask is inside that.

many thanks for that.

very interesting link. it appears from one of the posts that the the numbers on top of the cover were DRS additions, so for pre DRS it will be a case of mr muscle on the cover roof to remove the numbers.

cheers
