Not the best views in the world,

but hey, a really nice room in a nice hotel in the middle of Adelaide, at a very reasonable price.

@Bealman
What is the 'Polites' building George?
David.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with them.

Good question! I really don't know... there is a Police station right next to this particular hotel on the street, but that's not it.

I'll have to check that out next time!

Interesting!

Note the buildings all seem to have no curvature and straight, rectangular in shape

Bealman

Well well well!

Good old Dr Google!

Actually, now when I think about it, those signs are everywhere, and our hotel is located right on Hindley St.

I'm back at Bealette's place in Hallet Cove now....  I'll show her when I get out of bed - I'll bet she didn't know either!

I think if you refer back to the pictures of my daughter's workplace, Chris, you'll find it is most definitely curved.

There are a lot of rectangular buildings, though, but a lot of old buildings are very ornate at street level with columns, domes, statuettes, etc.

Thanks George. I was looking at the buildings showing Mr polites and surroundings. The Cheese grater building is very modern and I did notice that. I have heard many a cricket commentary from The Adelaide Oval and a commentator describe the neighbourhood

Here's a picture I took on Wednesday from right outside the Adelaide Oval. As you can see, lots of shapes and sizes!

On the right is the Adelaide Convention Centre, the white bit on the left is part of the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. The black building also to the left is part of the huge Skycity casino complex. You can just glimpse part of the magnificent station building on right of that. The bridge crosses the River Torrens.

Adelaide is known as the "City of Churches" and there is one right next to the cricket ground, which often shows up in televised matches.

Most of them are of course dwarfed by the tower blocks these days.

Thanks George..

Ah the cathedral always mentioned and the Torrens

Unbeknownst to Bealman until this trip, apparently the bloke his daughter is with is a closet sports car fan.He recently acquired this beast, which daughter took us for a ride in yesterday.

The less said the better about what I think about a young family with three cars.  :-X

Bye bye, Adelaide.

Bealman is now back in Wollongong, and of course it's raining. Fine with me. My 128 parcels dmu is here, and will get a test run today.

Bealman wandering again.

This time in a cabin three and a half hours drive down the coast. With the GrandBealettes and Mrs B's brother and his missus, who we don't get to see very often. He lives yet another hour further south.
