Hi Guys

Bought a second hand 37 which i have just found out has a dcc decoder in it, where would i bet able to get a blanking plug ? Looks like a 6 pin job. It's one of the more recent dcc ready models.

Kind Regards
Craig

Sometimes to be found on ebay where people have gone DCC and have no intention of ever reverting their locos.

There are cheap brand new ones by the likes of LAIS, eg. this one half the price of the Farish version. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313576593813

Thanks guys, i only need the one and it's only to test it works. I intened to go dcc/sound once i get round to finishing the railway room/build a layout etc.

Are all 6 pin blanking plugs the same, looking from the pics they are orientation sensitive, i take it pin 1 is marked on the loco pcb, i didn't think to look when i had it open ?

All 6 pin blanking plugs perform the same function, connecting pickups to motor and providing power to the directional headlights. Sometimes you find one or two components on them I think related to interference suppression?

Yes they are orientation sensitive, there should be some sort of pin 1 marking on the main board (or at least on the decoder you're going to replace so check that as well), otherwise the instruction sheet for the loco should tell you.

I can never understand why people purchase extremely expensive locos then
Go and buy Lais copied crap 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

Hello mr garage please rake my lovely Ferrari and fit some ling long tyres :)

I wouldn't know if it was copied crap as i'm not an expert with this stuff, re learning after decades between my childhood venture into n gauge. I was using a duette and lima/minitrix stock back then. The hobby has massivly improved in that time, i mean locos move without the finger of god giving them a poke  :smiley-laughing:

I bought it 2nd hand for the chassis

Granted some of their older decoders may be a bit iffy, but we're talking about a DC blanking plate here - a simple board with PCB traces and plug pins, no electronics.  Nothing much to go wrong with these, there's no point in spending more money than necessary.  You can put together a blanking plate yourself with a PCB header and a few wires soldered to the correct pins.
