We were channel surfing this morning and Thomas the Tank Engine was on, he has acquired an American accent! What is the world coming too?

Yours Sincerely

His name was revealed as early as Book 6 "Henry The Green Engine"

I don't mind all the new characters or locations, I just think Thomas should be English, what next? Paddington Bear with an American accent!  :(

Yes, it's all wrong and makes me cringe. I speak as an involuntary consumer of Thomas programmes, broadcast weekly on Sunday afternoons on NHK2 at 5:30pm, English soundtrack available on the audio subchannel. The worst bit is that at the end, American-Thomas does a little speech recapping the moral lesson to be learnt from the episode.  :veryangry:

It's effectively an expanded Walney Island, stretching from just off Barrow-in Furness almost as far out as the Isle of Man.
The name comes from the Diocese of Sodor and Man.

Well that would certainly explain why BoCo was there :)

All very clever.

The Table-Top Railway is an attempt to create, in British 'N' gauge,  a 'semi-scenic' railway in the old-fashioned style, reminiscent of the layouts of the 1930s to the 1950s.

Indeedy - that's why I described Sodor as being effectively an extended Walney Island, rather than an island in between there and Man.

Vickerstown is, of course, named after Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering, who owned Barrow Shipyard and needed somewhere for their workers to live.

Wait, what? I spent my childhood years literally just over the water from Sodor? Why didn't I know about this earlier?
