Hi, try Radley Models, they specialise in London Transport stuff, I've built several of their 1/76 scale (4mm 'OO gauge') whitemetal and resin bus kits but I believe they do 2mm (N gauge) London Transport rolling stock (As well as 4mm) although mainly in kit form, they are very helpful on the phone, they have a website too.
I don't know if there are any suppliers of 'ready to run' 2mm underground stock though, can't say I've heard of any although there may be someone on the forum who knows better, best wishes for the new year!

The London Transport Museum Shop sells a 00 gauge fully motorised 4 coach model of the latest Underground S Stock train.

00 is probably better for a 6 year old than N but it's very expensive at £280=.

There is a small firm that produces a a card kit of Underground trains but I can't trace their name at moment .

Found it, the firm is CDC Design, Street Level Models, they don't appear to have a very informative web site but their ebay shop is quite good.

Seems you might be able to get away with bodies from Shapeways but would you be able to source a chassis within the timescale? :uneasy:

AndyRA

For size the Tomytec chassis are very good, but the general availability isn't (at the moment anyway)

Andy.

If it looks difficult it probably is, but might as well get on with it anyway!

What is the source of your stock, Andy?
That looks bloomin' lovely. Especially against that backscene. Splendid stuff.

I'm a personality prototype... you can tell, can't you.

The stock is all scratchbuilt. As they are nearly twenty years old I was unable to find the original photo files. So I have scanned the original article I did for them. Sorry the quality is not brilliant :(
The article included the motorising using Arnold 'Kof' Diesel shunters, but I have since re-motored them with Tomytech chassis. The odd picture at the end was for the A60 stock. These were made from old Farish 101 DMU's. The thin plasticard was overlaid on top to give the doors a recessed look. The windows were then drilled out.

Andy,

Those tube trains are Superb and quite inspirational to boot.

Love to see full length trains too.

I will have to attack the 1mm & 2mm plasticard next time I'm in Hobbycraft with Mrs. Ben!

Southernboy

Just to echo Ben's comment Andy,

Excellent work on those tubes, they must have taken some time and effort, but well worth it for the result :)
