I just got my hands on this old Lima 86 at a very good price. With a better pantograph, a new buffer and some love I think it will look rather nice!

A Swede building a British model railway - please excuse any grammar mistakes as english isn't my native language!

jivebunny

Nah, the pantograph looks fine!  :D

I've finally found one of the second-edition Kato TGV-SE extension sets - been looking for one for about a year!

At 166€ (£120) it's more than double the original RRP, but then these have been out of production since the early 90s and my Kato TGV has been unprototypically short ever since I bought it...

QuoteAh, well in that case I don't think Hattons can be blamed for thinking the motor or chip was dead. If someone handed me a chipped loco in what looks to be a bit of a poor state I'd have probably assumed the same thing on finding it didn't budge on DC. Still, £30's not a bad price for a working chassis and a budget chip (and some knuckle couplers by the looks of it!)

JB

No offense but having had a few things off Hattons "pre-owned" I have experienced and am fairly sure now suspect their checking process isn't great so entirely possible it's a good'un for something silly like that

I've had numerous little things a few months ago incl. 3-off Scotrail Mk2's at a good enough price (just waiting for a DBSO now).  Latest purchase (bargain for once) was 4-off OBA's...

I'd have posted up my swallow liveried HST but it's pretty sick and needing some TLC to run.

Sort of a 'roundup' of recent purchases for the 1930s period on 'Dunestone'.

Today's arrival, an Adams '0395' 0-6-0 in Southern Black, no. 3441.

...and on a short freight with period stock...

Is that a Union Mills loco Talisman, looks nice, pity it would not fit in with my L& Y/LMS based layout.

Yes, it is Union Mills.

I wonder if any of their other offerings will be suitable for you - their current stock/price list is here:

Not entirely true there !!  There are two versions..

D6320 has a red buffer beam
D6324 has a black one!
D6325 The blue one from the set has a black one too!

The one that came in my milk tanker set was D6324, so the weathered black buffer beam would seem to be correct, and looking at images of Class 22's online it would seem that the buffer beam could be either red, black or various stages between the two. There is a colour photo of D6324 which shows it with a red buffer beam too.

Hailstone

6326 which has no yellow panel & disc head codes has a red buffer beam.

Western Exile

Whilst browsing around in Menzels Lokschuppen in Düsseldorf at the weekend, I came across this new Farish Class 46 going for €79.99 or just under £58 at the current exchange rate. A welcome addition to the fleet.

They didn't have a green one, unfortunately. The only other British locos they had were a two tone green Deltic and a green Great Western 47, both of which were the earlier style models. There were a few steam locos too and a handful of wagons but nothing that tempted me despite the advantageous exchange rate.

...the advantageous exchange rate.

Try telling that to a Brit having to import his UK outline stuff to the Eurozone! :phone: > :bounce: > :mail: > :slap: > :'(

Indeed  - my wife pointed this out to me after a couple of recent purchases so have to be more careful with purchases in the future  :worried:
(i.e. use my UK credit card so she can't see the transactions!  :laugh3: )

You have my sympathy, gents. Whilst it is good for me at the moment (a Brit living in Germany but working in the UK and being paid in sterling), it wasn't always. A few years back when the Pound and Euro were almost 1:1, it was a different story...
