Today I bought this FS (Italian Rlys) van made by Arnold with EUROP markings as quite a few of similar design turned up in Britain via the Dover and Harwich train ferries in the 1950s.

I may start building up a small collection of Continental European wagon designs that were seen in Britain in the 50s (I already own several from the 80s-90s in my fleet)

This was bought unboxed. Arnold's reference number for this wagon is 4431

Just been informed by Hattons that my preorder B set 2P-003-004 is now available and I should receive it soon. £21 only that's a good price for 2 coaches.

Size matters - especially if you don't have a lot of space - and N gauge is the answer!

Here's my purchase today.

My second lner livery j39. Which will be getting the same treatment as my other one.  This will also be renumbered to be a canal shed loco.

It's not a purchase as it was given to me as a gift by a friend after I shot their wedding in November:

See the wedding on my business page https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.875815399108821.1073741851.490583484298683&type=1 (it's not on my business' website yet as I'm going to cut the amount of images down)

I don't know if any of you ever looked in the Hornby catalogue as a kid and lusted after the turn table they did? This is exactly what I thought the Hornby one would be like except the Hornby one wasn't motorised (you had to add that) and required a lot of wiring (which I couldn't do as a kid!)

I'll do a write up shortly if anyone is interested?

Yes, I did, I think the Hornby catalogue has a been a strong influence on many model railway fans.

My recent order to the new revamped NGS shop has been fulfilled.

LMS Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T 41231 brings the inspection train into Dunestone - no doubt the SR 'Queen Mary' brake van is a special delivery for the goods yard...

At Kendal show this morning I found 3 x suburbans painted green for a tenner :)
Although no one is sure of the manufacturer they are certainly 1/148 when measured against other Farish coaches. A couple of axles on one bogie need fettling. Some livestock, an Oxford Diecast grey Ferguson tractor and a B-T Models Flatbed & trailer found their way home as well :D

Those suburbans look like the old Farish Poole ones, Nobby...

After months of looking I finally found a LM 153 at my local model shop.  Fits perfectly on my short platform;

Nice 153 Dave.  I took the train into Birmingham today and saw plenty of LM units, including a 153 just like that one, in the sidings at Tysley depot.  Although I prefer to travel on Chiltern trains I do think the London Midland livery looks very smart whatever unit it is applied to.

Thanks.  If I can get an East Midlands 153 too I'll be very happy.  Agree that the LM livery is a great one.

Me again  :wave:

First up, five East Midlands Mk3 coaches;

Didn't really have a reason for buying them other than they were on offer and thus far my Market Harborough-inspired layout doesn't have any EMT trains.  I'm not sure whether to buy an EMT HST or just stick them behind a DRS class 37 as some sort of ad-hoc service.

Next;

Wanted one for ages and was very impressed until;

Rather a noticeable chunk missing.  The eBay seller had advertised it as 'as new' and to his credit has agreed to offer me a partial refund so I'm happy to hold on to it and try and find a new whatever-that-bit-is-called.

Went to my local model shop yesterday to buy some paints but spotted a blue domino headcode class 37 at a reasonable price in a corner of the secondhand items cabinet, :sorrysign: I tried very hard to resist but in the end I gave in & bought it  :doh:

It is boxed but outer sleeve missing, someone has removed the numbers & BR arrows & the mechanism is caked in oil & black gunk, on the plus side it runs well & all the lights work so after a strip down, clean, transfers & a bit of weathering/detailing it will be a good one

cheers, Stu.
