ok, I'll pack my bag and head towards the naughty step, yet again  :-[

I am not sure about the legalities Alan, but I believe you could claim squatters rights.  :)

I think it's a bit like a booking at Premier Inn using a credit card, I can cancel my reservation by 16:00hrs with no charge  :D

That naughty step will be pretty full when I join you ,I too wonder how all these protesters get to their protest I bet they dont walk or go on their pushbikes .
And how about electric cars having LESS polution they still need power to make them and to produce the elecricity which we get from France who are just commisioning  five new coal fired generating plants to keep up with the demand ,and then the cost of recycling the batteries as well .Just doesnt make any sense to me .
Perhaps we should all keep horses and sell the byproduct to the gardners

I think all these things about pollution as pointed out by Bob are well known, but the 'powers that be' push ahead with the 'greener' solutions, as it sounds like they care - it is all just a sop to please some sections of the population. And as for cycle lanes ............ move over gents and make some room.  ;)
David.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with them.

don't get me wrong, I do believe in their right to protest about what they feel is an important subject to them,

but I would have been far more likely to support them if they had, for example, decided to march to Glasgow, and demonstrate against the no doubt millions of fossil fueled miles of air travel used to get the so called VIPs, staff, armoured cars etc to the meeting.

it wasn't long ago we had another jolly er serious meeting about global warming where they all flew to south america.

have these people never heard of the concept of VIDEO CONFERENCING, surely they don't need the duty frees or air miles do they ?

room for an old one on the step ?

room for one more on the top deck  :D

and apologies to Mick, @Newportnobby, for the doubtless increase to his, and the other MOD's, workload.

With regard to electric cars, have a look at this article if you think they really are the answer as the politicians would have us believe: https://www.theengineer.co.uk/guest-blog-ev-lca/
Then look up the environmental impact of lithium mining in South America - it is truly awful.
Apologies to the moderators if this is not a suitable subject for this forum.
