I have often wondered about these sort of sites. If three people are members of the same site, all wanting one particular item and all with the same maximum bid, how does the site decide who it is going to place the bid for?  :hmmm:

They don't, the 'computer' does something trickery, they take your money, either in subscription or adverts, and say "So long sucker".

Sniping is just a 'thing', in reality it has no bearing on the auction result.
You are neglecting human psychology. An item that had reached a 'fair price' of, say, £30 with four days to go is more likely to go for more, than an item that reaches £30 in the last few seconds. Because there are people who are susceptible to 'auction fever', or just temptation.

Not exactly a true purchase but last week I supplied 16 wagons to @mk1gtstu as a commission to weather them. The wagons were a mixture of poorly factory weathered and pristine Farish for Stu to work his magic on. Here are the results of his work received today. I've used his pics as the weather here is so overcast the light is shocking ::)
They all have real coal loads for insertion/removal as I wish. The lad is a wizard.
Bring on that 8F, Farish!!!!

Stunning work by the in house in this parish Master of weathering Mick.

They certainly look like poor neglected wagons - but nice work.

I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.

Impressive work jeff. For me with the class 08 I would and with mine weathered the yellow coupling rods and the lower part the body.

Bought secondhand Farish 371-111 class 31 D5596,
three s/h Mk1 suburbans, and,
three new ex-LMS Stanier corridors (BSK, CO, SO) in BR maroon.

With the three ex-LMS additions, I now own coaching stock from all the ex-Big 4 companies.

Found this pre-owned at Hattons.

I've been looking for this livery for a while and when VAT was removed I got this for 75 quid.

It ran OK but with some noise and hesitation on my DC test track.

A quick look revealed this

Two missing gears, plus a missing ladder

A root around my CL66 spares box came up with a working bogie tower, so I swapped the wheels and replaced the bogie. I gave all the wheels a good clean and now the loco runs much better.

Unfortunately, the intact bogie frame is from a Dapol loco, so I'll need to add a ladder rather than do a swap.

John P

Bought a Graham Farish set off eBay from someone here in the states. Features a Class 31 and several wagons.

You must have a big collection of Farish train set controllers  :)

I think I have four Farish sets w/ a controller? And a Dapol/Kato set that came with a Kato controller (that I can use).  ;D

This arrived today. I have shamelessly "borrowed" the ebay photo since I don't have my own photo on my PC at the moment. Doesn't run but I think it's getting current. Will need some looking into (as will the Class 31 in the set I got the other day, but that unit does run)
