ahhhh i want a dutch class 37, you got one for £40 right???

anyway...

i did get a class 58 (58 023, railfreight) and that was £50 which was a good deal

i also got a Mk1 FK, a GUV, a TEA, and an HEA... also got wires, paints, a decoder etc. etc...

i guess i should've saved up more money to blow, especially on the much reduced stock at the dapol and farish stands... there's always next year...

Luck of the draw really ! That farish stand was complete chaos.... at one point i asked a nice gentleman to pass me a handfull of boxes so i could have a look, they couldn't take the money fast enough ! What made me laugh was when one guy asked to pay by card and at least a dozen people groaned  (me included !) :smiley-laughing:

ker ching !!! I saw their stand, some awesome stuff there - the class 89 caught my eye  :Class89:, but far too expensive...

I did order a Dapol 52 in desert sand livery from osbounes though, at £106 i still feel a bit sick, just hope it's worth it !

I must look really guilty because she has vetted my megre £30 purchase and deemed it acceptable spend BUT she keeps giving me the look of 'knowing i have done something daft with money'.............

oh well come Oct she will never remember, and I get a CJM class 60

mm ok..

Farish Class 37 , in BR Blue (new DCC version) £40
Dapol Class 58, in Coal Sector £40
Dapol Brit Robin Hood £80
Dapol Class 156 Dummy Pair, in Regional £15

Farish Freightliner Bogie Wagon £9
Extra Containers for above £3 a pack x 2

Detailing parts for my Farish 4P (dome, chimney) from N Brass Locos £3

I had the Railfreight 58023 too but swapped it for the Coal Sector version as I have 58012 already. May well be the one bluedepot picked up later as I only saw one and was there on the dot.

From your pic, you got an eclectic collection (or should that be electric ???) I'm too tired - left home at 6 am and the M6 home was sh**e, to say nothing of some pillock in a Freelander who tried to get into my boot. Everyone brakes apart from him, you hear the screech of tires, look in your rear view mirror and see him fishtailing towards you. I assumed the crash position i.e tucked my jeans into my socks so the car wouldn't fill up.  :-[

I cant wait to own one of his masterpieces :beers: :music:

As long as it's N gauge and I like it, i'll buy it  ;D  Used to follow the old ' can't have that, it won't fit in my period' thing, but now I just buy what I want...

As for the ride home... one hell of a heavy shower slowed everybody down except for the jerk in a merc (sprinter, obviously !) who decided to tail gate some poor bloke when you couldn't see 10ft in front of you... crazy  >:(

Stil, it was a great show, was well worth the trip and good to put some faces to some of these strange names ! Good to see you folks

Well BACHMANN got 4000 of my pennies for an Early crest Black five.
A&H models got £18.00 for Lyddle End east engine shed and Lyddle end Tractor plough shed as they had them on 50% off

Seen many good things on offer to help create the next module to my layout very good show. Defo for next year too.

I got it out of the box, put it on the track and.... Nothing ! :'(  Gutted... but i took the body off in the vain hope it was a broken wire or something and again couldn't find anything wrong - put power directly to the motor and it worked ! ;D  still wouldn't work on the track though >:(
Anyway, i got fed up trying to find the problem so i gave up, as i picked up the body to put it back on, i noticed contacts in the roof - i forgot, they CAN use the overhead wires (clever germans !). I switched the switch, and it worked !!! ;D  It ran beautifully !

If anyone else gets a dead electric loco, may be worth knowing about that switch ! Here is a pic of the switch (small slotted screw head)

Hello,

Has anyone bought a Farish Tornado? Has anyone seen one for sale? And what did they think of it?

I have one on order and am in England for two weeks from next week. I'm really hoping to get mine while I'm here otherwise it will have to be airfreighted to me to avoid having to use the dreaded South African postal system. It's all a matter of timing.

Regards,

It's not looking good to be honest Veronica, it might be worth searching for model shops in the area you are visiting to see if they can order one for you, most of the online retailers are showing it as pre-order I'm afraid

Here are my purchases from TINGS. I got the first 6 for £55 as I kocked him down a bit for cash. On a later wander round I found he'd got another one so I took that as well. Hope there was some left for other folks (I couldn't believe what price people were asking for MK1's and the difference between stands)

Lessee ...

Let SMBO pick up a GraFar Jubilee (Rodney ?) from the scrum there (she got an extra fiver off too  :o ;D) after she considered a couple of Black 5s and another one (can't recall now), as well as 3 wagons ...  a bunch of NGS kits (I think about 10 wagons worth); the NGS Stove R (crimson & cream); and a lighting-bar kit from DCC Supplies (for a non-lit OO Hornby Pullman).

Was surprised the place was so busy !  Things were quieter around lunchtime though; managed to get to see the layouts then, as well as chat to some of the stallholders.  Dread to think how bad it must have been at opening time ... !

Had a look @ Tornado on the GraFar stand ... looks about the same as the OO release ?  Dont thing anyone had it for sale (but could be wrong; wasn't paying attention for that loco).

Well decided to take advice from here and go with my savings.. only managed to get 3 hours in at the show (which wasn't enough!) but so thoroughly enjoyed it.
As for purchases, I'll take photo's ina bit, but scored a bunch of European freight cars (as I don't have any yet!) including 2 four packs of minitrix side unloading hoppers :)

I spoiled myself with a Minitrix ES64 Dispolok liveried for Bosphorous Sprinter which is just beautiful

and the total steal of the show (given that I expected nothing from it) was an old Rivarossi FS e444 that not only is actually molded quite nicely, but also runs really well for
35 quid!! I'll take pics. I'm so happy with it, of course, now I have to find some FS coaches *sigh*

 :A1Tornado:

Dad bought a Tornado from Penkeith models £122.00.

Really nice model and runs a treat to. Puts Hornbys 00 naff offerings to shame just like the BACHMANN 00 version does.

Just run her in and have now fitted the DCC chip to it.

Osborne had them for sale at £135 ish and think the signal box had them too.

I bought:

A Bachmann Spectrum articulated loco for 35 quid
A Royal Scot (Air Force) in green for £50
A Dapol Evening Star for £50 - On ebay now as they make me nervous and it derails on some points.
Some wagons for £3 and £3.50
Nspirations 5 for 2 quid
A Dapol Stove R in Pullman livery

I went on sunday and was beaten to a lot of the good bargains so did'nt spend anything like I expected to.
Here's what I bought:
Farish class 47 "Geordie"
Peco lh and rh curved points(one of each)
N'spirations 2 through to 5
3 Herpa n gauge lorries
Pack of 2 Herpa Opel Manta's
3 bags of grey ballast
Mk3 br blue inter city 125 overlay vinyls from Electra. These are TSO's and TRFB.

I took a good selection of photo's as well and got to speak to Dapol Dave, mostly about the sound chipped HST which I was drooling all over.Amazing, although he told me if I wanted one it would cost me £600.None available in br blue so I passed on that one and kept my money in my pocket.

OK,

finally got some pictures of my purchases including my beautiful FS e444 (which I now have to find stock for!!!)
Also the bosporous sprinter which is delightful, and all of the wagons the e444 is pulling :)  I did well, especially with the e444 which was only 35 quid.
