I spent many a happy hour playing the PC game Railroad Tycoon 2 in the late 1990s. I've since switched to Linux but recently found out that Railroad Tycoon 2 is available on Steam for 75p!
Can't beat that really...

If you don't remember it you can take a look at this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railroad_Tycoon_II

I suppose it looks a bit dated graphics wise but the game mechanics are still good fun. Plus it's top down/isometric which I don't think you can beat for transport manager type games.

Just don't blame me if you get hooked...  :D

Always preferred Transport Tycoon myself, now available open sourced (and improved) as Open TTD, but I did like RT2!

I'm not going to risk it - took me long enough to wean myself off of it last time around  :D

If it were available on iPad, like Civilization, then I'd buy it.

Yep, some of the mods that have been made available with Open TTD are pretty interesting.
Have you seen Simutrans? https://www.simutrans.com/en/
It's in constant development but last time I played some of the gameplay is not quite as polished as Open TTD but it's a pretty interesting game once you get the hang of it.

Yeah, tell me about it, last thing I need is more excuses not to model, but sometimes...

I spent many happy hours playing this and Transport Tycoon Deluxe. More recently I found Train Fever and later on, Transport fever which brings the whole thing up to date and is well worth a look.

There's one called Locomotion which is an updated version of Transport Tycoon.

Locomotion wasn't a patch on TT though! There were loads of cool downloadable trains though; I remember finding a load of SWT EMUs.

GRF Crawler was worth a look for additional Transport Tycoon content - lots of different train sets.
