One of the sampler albums that slipped through my net was the Vertigo 'Suck it and see' which, sadly, is only available on vinyl (and I don't like buying 2nd hand vinyl)

Here's the Kraftwerk track 'Ruckzuck' which, all these years later, still sticks in my mind

Thanks for those Renaissance links Tim @Moonglum .
I rather lost track of the band after their first album so your links have given me the impetus to explore further.

Here's a link to something completely different that you might like  if you enjoy a bit of jazz/blues guitar

Fabulous Martin @port perran , two superb guitarists for the price of one. Both famous for their extensive session work with the likes of Joni Mitchell, The Crusaders and Steely Dan to name but a few. I have CDs by both.

Here is one of my favourite Larry Carlton tracks "10PM" from his "Sleepwalk" album. Mick @Newportnobby might like this as well...

Jeff Healey, blind since the age of 1 and started guitar aged 3. I saw him at Nottingham and will never forget his unique style.

Yes, I agree. I have his "See the light album". A great guitarist and a sad loss.

The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

Quote from: AndrewPH on February 03, 2024, 04:16:18 AMAt the moment: the recent Acts album by Tiger Lou. Tiger Lou is basically Rasmus Kellerman, with extra musicians when playing live.

Couldn't find a youtube of the entire album so here's a playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kbuqAfEGcca62x_B5HFH9KccRjOaJ4anY

How to categorise Tiger Lou? Hmm. Kind of indie rock / post-rock I guess. Not my usual prog fare. Great songwriting, very guitary, and he has a very distinctive, plaintive voice. This is his 5th album I think. The earlier albums "The Loyal" and "A Partial Print" are also really good.
Thank you for highlighting Tiger Lou @AndrewPH .
I had a listen on the train today.
Interesting stuff and as you suggest, difficult to categorise.
Not really my thing on first listening but glad I investigated.
Cheers

I've been listening to Fatburger a bit lately.
A sort of smooth funky jazz from San Diego originally.

Not sure if it's a keeper as far as I'm concerned but definitely listenable but not challenging (maybe just too middle of the road).

Interesting choice Martin @port perran . I had this on Quincy Jones' "The Dude" album, featuring James Ingram on vocals.

PS I love this, the irrepressible John Martyn covering Portishead's "Glory Box"...

Interesting.
I had no idea that John Martyn is still around.
Whatever happened to Beverley?
