Oddly enough I'm playing Genesis at the moment - the excellent 'Nursery Cryme' to be followed by one of the best live albums (IMHO) 'Seconds Out' including the epic 'Supper's Ready'

Moonglum

Crikey, I had "Nursery Chryme" taped on my reel-to-reel (Akai 4000DS).  I had "Seconds Out" originally on vinyl and bought an immaculate second hand copy from our local charity shop a few years ago for 50p - a bargain and as Mick @Newportnobby says a fine live album.

Cheers,

Tim

PS the only vinyl I have now is Triang Railways "Railway Rhythm" a 45 single! Oh... a two singles by a punk band called Prag-Vec as a school friend was the bassist.

Newportnobby

Another band I saw several times who had tamed the 'awkward' mellotron. I do have 2 vinyl albums but maybe don't have as much as I should considering how much I like them.

Dock Shunter

Love Barclay James Harvest,Time Honoured Ghosts is my favourite album.

BransgoreRail

Great choice, will have to find my CD collection which is hidden in a box somewhere after a recent house move. My favourite track would be Bavk in the game.

Newportnobby

I have BJH and other short stories + Early Morning Onwards on vinyl but have BJH Live on CD and would commend that CD to the house

Moonglum

Another band that passed me by in the early 70s. Very much of the time and I do like the sound of the Mellotron. I have a version of "Mockingbird" by the Enid featuring That Joe Payne.

How about this from Steven Wilson... there's a mellotron in it...

The guy playing bass is Nick Beggs (ex Kajagoogoo). Superb band.

Cheers,

Tim

And if you liked that one by Steven Wilson, you might like this...

Trevor Horn's new album of songs he loves with guest artists has just released and has been playing on repeat here today.

Particularly stand out tracks are Drive (featuring Steve Hogarth) and particularly smooth disco version of Owner of a Lonely Heart with Rick Astley's vocals and Toyah and Robert Fripp guesting on Relax.

Every December our eclectic mix of Fairport Convention, Strawbs, Jethro Tull gets filed away and we wallow in an annual dose of John Denver and the Muppets - a Christmas Together.  We have been doing this since 1979 and still love it.
