Thanks so much for the introduction to The Beatrix Players Tim.

I've just listened to their Magnified album.

Brilliant - I feel immediately transformed back to the 70s/early 80s but with a bit of 21st century sophistication thrown in.
Amy Birks has a captivating voice which holds ones attention.
I particularly like Never Again, Molehill and Lady of the Lake on first listening.
I shall have a second listen again on the train to Bristol tomorrow.

I think Amy Boone has a fantastic voice.
She was involved in a hit and run accident in Texas some time back and it was doubtful if she would ever walk again.

I'm on 'Tales from Topographic Oceans' this morning. I really rate the first two tracks but am not so keen on the other two

If you like your music dreamy then I'd push you towards 'Hammock'.

Hi Martin, the first track by The Cactus Channel is pleasant enough but the second track has a bit more oomph for me - so a thumbs up for both!

I don't think I've ever met anyone else who have heard of Tonton Macoute. They were four piece (I think) prog/jazz rock outfit from the very early 70s.
I saw them, along with about 25 other hardy souls with nothing better to do, in a pub in Bath when I was about 17.
I remember nothing else about the performance but I bought their album about 5 years later as part of a bargain bundle of 4 LPs for £1 in Woolworths (remember them?).
Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the album. This, I think, is the standout track :

Nope, never heard of them Martin! There is a good vibe (literally) going here and I rather like it. Slightly derivative of other bands of the period. I wonder what happened to the individual players - they seem pretty competent to me?
