I have a number of DVDs of concerts and would like to be able to listen to them on my phone or a computer that is not fitted with a DVD drive.

I believe that there is software out there that can do the conversion to mp3 for you but which one to get.  One that's free would be a bonus.

So has anyone here done the same thing that I want to do and which bit of software did you use?

Thanks.

What type of computer OS do you have?
Windows 7 to 10 have software included that can perform this task, but the DVD must not be rights protected
However instead you can simply play the DVD and have Recorder performing at the same time!
This will then save the sounds into MP3 format

You could also consider :
VLC Media Player (for saving and editing DVD)
Active Presenter (for saving copy protected DVD)

OS, ah yes.  Nothing later than Windows 7 but I do have a standalone that is still running XP SP3.

Thanks for the recommendations.

If you have i-tunes that can rip DVD and CD's to mp4/mp3, but not sure if sound tracks off a DVD can be ripped straight to mp3 alone. The same goes for Handbrake - a good multi-platform option - that I mostly use to rip DVD's to mp4.

Another option which I have just tested and works
Windows Movie Maker
This can separate out visual and audio once the DVD has been imported
However you firstly need to save / import the DVD, and VLC is better at doing this
