Here's Dapol announcement re their Yahoo group.

QUOTE
We have over the last few weeks done much soul searching with regards to the N'thusiast club and the lack of responses to questions etc on the yahoogroups forum.

We have decided that we will close the yahoogroups forum down within 7 days and replace it with a facebook one that is for invited members (i.e. all members with an e-mail account) to join.

You do not have to be a member of Facebook to view the site.

Once there you will have access to ALL N gauge news at least 48 hours before it's posted on RMweb or Dapol's main Facebook page.

Pictures with the press releases posted there will also be exclusive and they will not be able to be copied into the public domain.

We are working on new items for the revamped newsletter, and this should start going to all members beginning of April.

All new show offers will be notified to members first via facebook, so that those attending can ask for certain items to be put aside.

No NQP's will  be sold at shows and remain the domain of the open weekend, which is pencilled in for the 5/6th of October (confirmation to follow in the newsletter).

Renewal letters are going out as we speak, and the next newsletter has the class 22 and milk tank offer application form inside.

We actively encourage all members who have any ideas on how to make the club better or features you would like considered, to please contact Nikki at   nicolawhitefield@rocketmail.com  or phone her on 01691 776935

Thanks for the 'heads up' Caz. Regarding Dapol im in no major rush to find out 48hrs before of a particular release, as human nature dictates these things dont stay secret for long anyway!
Normally if something is announced 48hrs before, there always seem to be someone ready to 'spill the beans' :confused1:

Y'know, this seems typical for Dapol ... despite being a member of the Club, I've heard very little from them (and had all emails ignored), and I find out about this group from here just as they disband it ...

Not very professional, is it ?

AndyGif

i though all the yahoo groups had been killed long ago, by yahoo themselves??

Geoff

Never knew there was a yahoo group, but I am on facebook and have been linked into Dapol for a wile now so if they are going to be putting news out on there the better they will get a wider audience than they have had.

Like you, I didn't know there was a Dapol Yahoo group, just saw it mentioned and moaned about a couple of times on their Facebook page.  I also put in a question re the group on their Facebook site and received a personal reply that changes were afoot and announcements were to be made, seems today that did just that.  ;)

For those that don't know, the Dapol Facebook page can be found here; http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dapol-Ltd/214563285228094

It seems that Dapol have taken on board all the criticism levelled at it regarding the lack of info on their website and are now in the process of taking it all back in house and under their control which can only be to the good.

Not useful for those that don't (want to) use Facebook.

I'll continue to wait till the news filters through to here.  :NGF:

Been a member of their Yahoo group for a long time, but it has hardly ever been used by them or anyone. Facebook will be better as it is more modern and allow pictures etc not just text.

Better ?  Debatable ... as per some others, I don't use FaceAche ...

As to pictures etc - what's wrong with their website ?  (rhetorical question, I think most of us know that answer  :P)

In my opinion they should use their website, Facebook and this forum.

I'm sure they'd love to hear from you all mentioning the NGF to them. :D

but won't be able to do anything else (actually from what I remember you can't set up a facebook private anything without everyone accessing it having to be on facesuck)

Dapol never did get the internet, and that hasn't changed. I'd bet on it being closer to 10 minutes on a slow day 8)

Chuckle, that made me laugh.

Still it sounds like they are at least trying to make it relevant, trying to give it some value and keeping the open day, the special releases and the NQP offers which seem to be the main value it has.
