Earlier this year when I visited Denmark I also tried to visit a model railway shop in Aarhus but every time my daughter found time to take me there it was closed!

Anyway, through the window I saw a superb ferry capable of carrying a train and I thought that it must be in "N", judging by my guesstimate through the window.

Yesterday I eventually found their web site complete with a gallery of pictures of the self same ferry and I thought that it might be inspirational for others who wish to construct similar ships?

I understand the shop owner builds them to customer requirements?

(Sorry forgot the website link!    http://www.jkmodel.dk/  if you click on "billedarkiv" that links to the gallery)

Peter.

Each can do but little, BUT if each did that little, ALL would be done!

Very nice - I do wish there were more ships in the 1:148/1:160 scales. Given the popularity of docks and harbours as the basis for layouts, and the popularity of shipbuilding as a hobby in its own right, you'd have thought there might have been but apart from the fishing boat and coastal tanker (both fairly ancient now) there seems to be almost nothing.

Hi Peter,

That looks great - thanks for sharing this.

It's amazing how big ships are in N Gauge.   A few months ago I found this container ship in the Liverpool Transport (?) Museum.  Judgiing by the size of the containers it was pretty close to !:148 - the ship was bigger than many layouts - about 6 or 7 feet long.

Sorry for poor photography....

Cheers Jon  :)

You could always build the layout on the main deck!!  :)
