That album surely had its moments but on the whole I think it failed. I sold mine years ago. If you like the classical/rock fusion format try some Barclay James Harvest and Renaissance. Not as heavy as Deep Purple but a better combination IMHO.

Chris M.

I agree re the Deep Purple fusion - such is the fate of pioneers. And thanks for the tips. I'll look them out. I missed out Pink Floyd from my original list.

Best wishes,
Chris.

Feeling a bit Bluesy this morning so I am listening to John Mayall and later the very early and bluesy Fleetwood Mac.

Zeppelin came out of Yardbirds so are Londonish as miuch as Brum 8)

Sabbath were one of a large number of Brum bands though along with folks like Judas Priest and later on such ... wonders(?) as Napalm Death

Napalm Death are awesome! Just love their brutal groove sound.

Currently listening to Opeth's Blackwater Park - beautiful music.

Seems we might have a few metällers on here.

Elvinley

It does seem that way! I am a fan of folk, metal, goth, prog and many other genres. I am equally happy listening to Steeleye Span or Obituary.

I'm with Elvinley, in as much as I listen to classical, electric folk, rock in all its forms, blues (I hate it when they refer to new music as R & B. To me its just Rubbish and Bo****ks, not Rhythm & Blues), reggae, and one of my favourite ensembles - Enigma (what would you categorize them as?)
At the end of the day it's whatever fits your mood/whatever you're doing. At the moment its Nothing Else Matters by Metallica.

Me too - its what the mood dictates, and vinyl does rule

The Division Bell (Pink Floyd's last) is still doing it for me, with occasional dips into John Mayall and Robert Johnston.
