What's the longest time you've searched for a model?

I've been searching for a red motorised Arnold Turmtriebwagen for 40 years.

Well I can't beat poliss at 40 years however you may recal I had been looking for a Saha 201-40, Kato # K4319 since September last year.

My problem was they were no longer made and about as common as hens' teeth!  I did eventually find one on a Japanese auction site, however as I don't read Japanese I had to go through a 3rd party broker.  The coach cost me 1700 Yen, about £13, but with the broker fees, shipping and charges it ended up costing me about £37.  I now have a complete train again though (not to mention some useful spares)

im searching for a Union Pacific Big Boy in N Scale. These are very rare, especially in the UK. These can fetch up-ward of £350. Have been looking for 5 years since seeing one at work on an American Layout at the N guage show in Warwickshire in 2006. Excellent loco  :o

You missed them. Athearn were selling a sound fitted Big Boy until recently. I got mine for £200.00. They are a lot better than the old Rivarossi models too.

Had to take a PA Amp for repair last week and got talking to the Tech who showed me a case full of "Big Boys" and "Challenger's" and several other articulated locos from the Duluth Missable & Iron Range and Norfolk and Western Railroads, magnificent stuff and after I put my eyes back into my head he then showed me his diesel locos.

There's one on Ebay in the USA. If it stays at it's present price it would cost around £183.13 including import taxes and RM fees. It has a 3 pole motor, not 5 pole as in the description.
