I aggree with the lack of communication and records ,a few years ago I had an endoscopy and they took some byopsies about a month later got a letter telling me I had to see a specialist in Amersham hospital so, booked a day off work and in case it was bad news Val booked a day off as well ,we got to the hospital booked in at reception waited for an hour ,my name was called we went in sat down and the Doctor said ( Good afternoon and what can I do for you today )  I showed her the letter she read it went on her computer turned round and said there was nothing at all on there that warranted an appointment with a specialist  ,every thing was OK and nothing she was worried about .
So we had both wasted a whole day off for nothing .
Still having regular blood tests and endoscopys  but no matter how I try I never get any results back to me, I've been to the surgery several times I've rung up many times but NEVER GET RESULTS .
The only good thing is I'm still here to annoy everyone .

I'm saying nowt  ;D. Seriously though, there are a lot of complaints about the 'two tier' health system here in Ireland, but I can not complain about the way I have been treated. When I saw the specialist at the end of May, he told me that I would have to have a targeted biopsy "in about 3 months". I received a telephone call this afternoon from a lovely nurse, (well she sounded lovely  :)), who asked me if I could go in on 19th September and that it would be a general anath anea annis, I will be put to sleep whist they do it, but I should be out by lunchtime. Whilst not looking forward to it, at least the GP seems to know what is happening. When I go for a visit, she just presses a few buttons on her computer and she knows where we are at. So, I am quite happy with our service.
David.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with them.

Dannyboy you say she presses a few buttons and it tells you were your at Google Earth does that if you put the postcode in ,and when I turn my IPad on it tells me the location is High Wycombe.
Ha Ha Ha .
Seriously though you are lucky, our surgery is a waste of space it's only open three morning a week and I don't know what we will do when it closes, all the other NHS surgeries a seem to be full up.We have tried before to find somewhere else  but no luck.

My GPs surgery:-

Monday - open surgery. Just turn up and wait, in the hope you'll be seen during the day
Tuesday - closed in the afternoon for training purposes
Wednesday - open all day but you can't make an appointment until 08.30 on the day
Thursday - only practice nurse in the morning. Closed in the afternoon
Friday - open all day but subject to same restrictions as Wednesday
Saturday - open morning only
Sunday - closed.

Prescriptions can only be requested between 10.00 - 12.30 and will take 48hrs to be available.

When I have my back sorted out I'll be changing to somewhere else.

Some of you may have seen on the news that Chorley A & E has closed 'temporarily' as they cannot staff it. Rumour has it they will not re-open it which dooms us to Preston hospital which is miles away and at which parking is ridiculous.

I am sorry to hear that Bob and NPN are having such bad service from their surgeries because I cannot praise my surgery enough if I ring in morning because I feel unwell I am usually offered an appointment within 1 hour but this could be because I have 5 life limiting illnesses, but life must go on I suppose.

We use EMIS patient access to book appointments and order repeat prescriptions. The surgery sends the prescription info to the chemist who calls a day or so later and asks us to call in. You can select which GP and which of the 2 surgeries they cover and book an appointment. If you are desperate, you can go at 11:00 and wait.
To my surprise, it seems to work quite well.

Been there, done that, got the T shirt.
When mine fell into the loo it gave out a very eerie blue light followed by darkness and a stream of bubbles - followed by an expensive bill for a new one!!
 :'(
Size matters - especially if you don't have a lot of space - and N gauge is the answer!

Strangely, my phone turned on when it was underwater too. I reckon the water shorts out the on-off button. But it don't turn on at all now!

I'm typing this on my new phone, but it's taking a while to learn how to drive it :dunce:

I've not done that but I once spilt a glass of wine on the keyboard of my wife's laptop.

The result was flash, bang, and a bill for a new one  :(

Best regards,

In the good old days, when I worked in IT, computer keyboards cost a fortune. People in the offices were always spilling stuff in them. We used to stick them in the sink and cover them with water for a couple of hours. After leaving them draining for a day or so, they were fine. Thank god, our tap water is PH neutral and almost like distilled water. It also worked with my car remote when I dropped it into the canal.
