Been told today that my job is to be made redundant. There is a remote possibility that another position may be available to apply for but I don't hold out too much hope for that or even the future of the company to be honest. I hope it's sunny in June so I can do stuff in the garden.

In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

It struck me you were quite enjoying that job. If so, that's a great shame :(

Absolutely loved it mate. Unfortunately I've seen them make a lot of poor, bordering on amateurish, decisions and I feel this is yet another. The bottom line is that the work I and others do still needs to be done and they will have to use contractors to do it which will cost them more but what do I know eh?

That is something I always do and recommend that everybody else does the same. Even if you can't get a better quote, ring the current insurance company and tell them it is too much - most call handlers are authorised to offer a small reduction.

I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with them.

Sorry to hear this bad news John.

Any chance of setting up your own business and taking your customers with you ?

Trainfish

Thanks @joe cassidy. Something along these lines has already been thought about although at my age I'm not really sure I want the hassle of setting up my own business. I took this position/rolee with a view of it taking me through to retirement without the stress of management which I previously did and I don't want to return to that if I can help it. I wouldn't be able to take any customers with me as all the customers (camp sites) I deal with are owned by the company and dealt with internally. Yes, I could provide sub-contract services to them but again, is it worth the hassle?

Thanks for the idea though.

So better late than never, my parcel has finally got back to Denver.

Hopefully it'll be at my local Post Office tomorrow, we'll see.

 ,for us things seem to be getting better on the postal front. When ordering packages would regularly stay at Heathrow for up to 2 weeks before leaving the UK, now it is only a few days.

I took my wife's Motability car in for its 12 month service and a warranty repair today. Despite being a Motability car, they'd not arranged a courtesy car (thank God that my disabled wife did not take it in). Unfortunately, it was raining, so making use of my smartphone to find ways home was difficult. I have problems with my own knees and the walk to catch public transport where I knew I could find it was a struggle.

A journey that takes just 15 minutes by car took 1-1/4 hours and involved 30 minutes of walking on the way back. The time spent walking, will mean that tomorrow, my arthritic knees will be very painful and I will be pretty well immobile.

With more time to think and a computer at home to work out how to get back to the dealers, picking it up should have been easier. However, for whatever reason, the second bus diverted down another road and missed three stops out (one of which was mine), despite the bus website listing the required stop and the time it should have been there! More time lost and more walking!
