Title: Ben and the Royal Baby
Post by: Snowwolflair on May 06, 2019, 09:18:46 PM
When I was out for a walk earlier I saw @Ben A (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=94) looking frozen standing opposite Windsor castle waiting to do his piece to camera.  I hope someone got him a hot drink.

I guess we are going to be invaded over the next week by press and "Royalty Obsessed" punters.

I suppose 24 hour coverage of his first nappy will make a change from May / Corbyn etc on Brexit, or maybe much the same content  :-[

Neatly sidestepping the potential political content, all I can say is that Mrs Bealman is dead interested, and watching stuff, but so far, no Ben Ando  ;) ;D

They are thawing him out  :D

I suspect Ben was on cover for any news coverage for the holiday and it looks like the newsreaders and royal coverage team who have taken over.

I will take a walk later and see if he is there.

For a moment I thought you were talking about Ben, then I mentally replayed the images I saw earlier on the Japanese news but ignored due to being otherwise preoccupied and surmise the Ginger One's missus has dropped a sprog?

Years ago when a royal baby was born my dad would say "another mouth to feed" ,
(expletive deleted) however I wish them well.

Wouldnt it be a hoot if the baby  took after his granny......(Not Diana!)

Hard enough getting your mouth round the name....

Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor....

Ok  :worried:

Living in Windsor, a castle insider explained the name as follows.

Archi as in Arch(Duke) and not Archibald - remember they are all Batten-bergs

Harrison as in Son of Harry

So the name reads

"This important one is the son of Harry and is a Mountbatten-Windsor"  a touch of Game of Thrones don't you think.

Thanks!

Better than one gushing commentator here in Oz who reckoned the Harrison bit was 'cos Megan was mates with Harrison Ford and Harry and William have had cameo roles in a Star Wars movie  :smiley-laughing:

Re name of baby,in Blackadder Goes Forth , Blackadder asked Baldrick if he knew how WW1 started,
and Baldrick replied "  A bloke called Archie Duke shot an ostrich cos he was hungry.........."

Hello all,

Yes, a pleasant afternoon at Windsor and nice to see a familiar face!

I was sent because the BBC has so many outlets interesting in the Royals that the specialist Royal correspondents don't have the bandwidth to serve them all.

So I did BBC News Channel, some radio, BBC Focus on Africa, BBC World and BBC Arabic!!

But enough of work - now back to the trains!!

Cheers

Ben

Doesn't really compare with "Queen Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lady of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm, Lady of Dragonstone, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons" though!

And now Danny Baker has been fired (for a second time, no less) from R5 Live for tweeting an inappropriate (allegedly racist) tweet.

When will broadcasters learn to internalise their own jokes, keep their mouths shut and their fingers off the keyboard?

it's just not politically correct now to joke that the baby was like a monkey (even though Harry said he already had some facial hair and was pleased, apparently, by that), but in the olden days (pre-internet) somehow it was quite acceptable and humorous to suggest that Princess Anne's baby had four hoofs (the horse connection - in case you didn't get it). Nobody got mortally offended in the 1970s by that, and no-one lost their job - mind you we did have some very dodgey TV in the 70s and 80s!
