Dear all,
I wish to apologise to everyone for the work that has had to be done on the forum today. This had to be done to correct a few issues with the database, and we had to use a backup from yesterday.
This means that posts and ratings were lost, along with about 25 photos.
I'm sure that you can appreciate that it has been a very busy day for me, what with work, volunteering somewhere this evening and sorting out the issues on here.
Kind regards,
Chris.
Chris
Aka tank
I'm sure everyone appreciates all the hard work done. Thank you
Thanks for the update. These are always difficult and risky - so glad you had a recent backup and we're able to limit the disruption. Well done.
Thanks Tank for all your efforts, a few are moaning but I realise it has not happened on purpose, just one of those things with computers and the like. Keep up the good work and thanks again for your time. Chris H.
I noticed that the columns at the right hand side of the members list are a bit awry. Is this a result of using the backup database? @Tank (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2)
It's not affected me but I can understand why some folk are not impressed. However they need to take chill pill and just repost what they have lost IMHO.

Life is too short to re type /load everything!
However any system is only as good as its backup system, and ours works!
Let's hope the new version will be more reliable.....
I saw the warning on the front page, so I'm not worried about losing the odd post & picture - I knew they were at risk when I did them and nothing important has been lost at my end.
Thanks to everyone involved, for the hard work. It is greatly appreciated!
I too, wish you all the best for the site upgrade for when you get to it. Just make sure you have a full backup of EVERYTHING that can be returned to service if things don't go well. You don't want to experience the problems that a certain other forum had! When it happens, I think we'd all prefer you to take your time and get things perfectly working rather than have their mess :)
Ross.
Chris,
Like I hope would be the view of the overwhelming majority of forum members, I thank you for your dedicated and continuing efforts to give us a forum.
:beers:  :claphappy:
No problem at all Chris.
Thanks for all that you do to keep the forum up and running.
Cheers
Martin
No problem Chris.
Thank you for all of the hard work that you put in. I bet that the pay isn't that great either! :beers:
there was a very informative thread about fitting tyres to a minitrix brit--including a video about removing /replacing the valve gear. It would be very helpful if that link could be re-posted.
@Bigmac (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=847)
Would it be better asking for a re-post on the relevant thread?
Martyn
Chris;
Thanks for all the effort that you and others have put into making this Forum such a helpful one.
Nothing missing that can't be re-posted if necessary.

Thanks Malc. Hopefully rectified with the upgrade. It looks like the 'ratings' modification has messed it up at some point.
Hello Chris @Tank (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2) . Thank you for keeping us up to date with the events of yesterday. Special thanks, once again, to you and your handful of volunteers for all the hard work you undertake so that we can all enjoy our FabulousForum.
With all best wishes.
John
Thank you all for your kind support and messages, and to those that sent PM's. It took the bitterness away from the first (and only?) negative message that I read.
Losing 28 hours worth of data isn't bad after 13 years, surely?! :D
As one of those caught in the crossfire who had stuff deleted, people need to just appreciate that the site is free, there is a mine of information here and most importantly a good community.
It's hard work providing us all with this forum. Having dealt with punters on the 1:1 scale railway, I find the biggest moaners have the least to moan about!
Full thanks to everyone involved who keeps the forum going!
