Hi Nick, and welcome to the forum

I have to admit I've never seen one in N so my guess is a scratchbuild, maybe on a Peco chassis (rewheeled with Farish wheels if you prefer).

Hi

The 2mm SA do a kit but you need to be a member to purchase. It can be converted to run on N gauge track using the 2mm SA N gauge wheels.

I have built the kit and it is relatively straight forward consisting of an etched chassis and resin body with etched detailing parts. The instructions can be viewed here

Another way is to use an old Lima body with plastic card catwalks upon a shortened Peco long wheel base chassis, detail to taste and repaint, Modelmaster or C.C.T. do the decals I think.

In the air-braked era there were twenty STS twin cone wagons used for cement transport. These were continental gauge wagons with the sides flattened to comply with the BR loading gauge, so fairly easily modified from the Lima wagon if anyone is interested. They were used in block trains between Tring (Tunnel cement , Pitstone Works) and Tunnel Cement , Purfleet. However they could be seen in Speedlink trains en route to/from workshops for attention. Paul Bartlett's photos show a lot of the detail.

They were always painted bauxite and typical traffic carried was fine powder of various types (but not cement), including lime, glass-making sand, soda ash from Cheshire along with the airslide-modified grain hoppers.

Unloading was by air, as with the Presflos operating from were Whitehaven, Peak Forest, Chelford and Oakamoor, though rule 1 would / could apply. i remember seeing 3 / 4 in a train at Golborne,  the line towards the Liverpool/Manchester "Chat Moss" left the WCML, routes to both Liverpool/Manchester were available, so reckoned the train  could be heading towards Warrington (on the main) or it could be taking the Chat Moss towards Manchester and the Peaks (district!)

my uncle remembers seeing the wagons at
Lever's at Port Sunlight which received these wagons (and the modified grain hoppers) from Whitehaven until mid 1980 and he said he noted Sodium Tripolyphosphate from Corkickle to Port Sunlight and Warrington was one traffic flow until replaced by PCAs.

Sodium tripolyphosphate from Albright & Wilson, Corkickle to Lever Bros., Port Sunlight and Lever Bros., Warrington Bank Quay

the class 24 / 25s worked the prestwins to ellesmre port / birkenhead
with grain from silcocks ( levers ) for animal feed products.

good luck

Paddy

I created a couple of Prestwins a few years back by modifying the LIMA model.  You can see the result here:

Paddy,

They look great, I think an article for the Journal on how you did it could be worthy here  :D  :D

Hi @Vanrouge - I wanted some of these too so designed some for 3D printing. Here's the story - https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=50051.msg649935#msg649935
