Thought it was a bad cough/cold but after a couple of months thought maybe not, so got the docs involved; eventually after antibiotics then a fungal creme finaly got to hospital ENT; transnasal endoscope discovered a lump looking like a wart on a vocal chord, more faffing with biopsies etc they've now given it a name, Squamous Carcinoma, yet more faffing to decide if I can stand a general anaesthetic - aftermath of 40 years smoking although gfiven up 16 years ago the chest ain't that efficient.
Si finally today I get the verdict radio thereapy 5 days a week for 4 weeks; at some time during that I'm likely to be feeling a bit yukk so if I drop off the scene for a while in 2 or 3 weeks time hopefully normal operation will resume sometime mid - late April.
Really sorry to hear that Mike but glad they have a diagnosis and treatment plan for you. Hope all goes well. Take care and all the best. :beers:
Very sorry to hear that, Mike, and hope the treatment doesn't cause you too many issues. Get well soon!

Squamous Carcinoma
Sounds like a Harry Potter spell
Sorry to hear that, Mike. Hope the treatment works.

Trust you will soon be back in full voice.
Mike,
Mrs "H" went through radio therapy for 5 weeks back in 2014 at Pisa. We used to go for a curry and some vino afterwards... She never had any ill effects from the treatment.
Hope it all works out for you.
All the best Jerry

I'm going to add my best wishes but also a small rider. I've been through the same treatment for the same thing. Whilst is affects us all slightly differently, the mouth and throat treatment is particularly arduous as it makes eating and drinking quite tough towards the end of the treatment. You may well get some mouth ulcers which are painful and also a side effect called mucositis, which is not painful, just unpleasant. All of the side effects can be coped with quite readily, so don't let me put you off, but be aware that they may occur. Tiredness also rears up to greet you quite frequently.
Lots of folk go through RT on different parts of the body with nil to almost zero side effects, my brother just had 4 weeks for prostate cancer and has just traveled all the way here to Aus from UK to visit, within weeks of the completion, so I hope that you are as lucky.
All the very best, Bill.
All the best.
Sorry to hear this Mike, here's to a speedy recovery.

It'll give you time to store up some more funnies. I hope you are fighting fit soon.
I'll add to the general chorus of good wishes - hope it all goes well. At least it won't affect your hands, so you can still play trains!
All the best,
Chris
Thoughts are with you Mike, keep smiling :D!
Best wishes,
Jimbo.
Seems like the usual NHS "hurry up and wait" is still in force, looks like treatment won't start before April so for the time being I'm still in whisper/croak mode for a while which has not so far had any effect on my use of the internet!
Just picked up on your thread and want to add my best wishes.
The delay is a real pain but hope they get things sorted.
A pal of ours had RT late last year and tiredness was a side effect but the treatment was 100% successful and is happily back to what we've come to know as Normal!
All the best.
