Peco KNR-275 clam wagons

Hello, anyone got any experience of building the Peco clam wagons? I've just built two and the couplers are absolutely horrific. They constantly uncouple, or the couplers droop too much and won't couple up... Is it worth just cutting the pockets off and finding some NEM pockets to fit? I normally use hunt couplings but they don't make a longer version to fit into these...

Are these the old Parkside Dundas kits? If so then the chassis had separate coupling holders which had a block pushed in from the top to secure the coupling at the right height.

Hi I think they are yes. I did lose one of the blocks I will admit! However one of them still drops with the block and the ones that are all okay still uncouple or just derail, it's like there's nor much side to side play either

When fitting the blocks you need to ensure the coupling is level then apply a small amount of liquid glue to the top so it locks it in place by capillary action. You might be able to soften the plastic block enough with liquid glue (just don't use too much) to push the top of the block in to level up the coupling.

I forgot to mention you can make new blocks from 2mm (0.080") square plastic bar 4.8mm long.
