Mick, I am afraid that I have struggled a bit with Jethro Tull, I only had "A Witches Promise" as a single and "We Used to Know" on NETE. I saw Ian Anderson (solo) live a few years ago (2009) and after a poor start quite enjoyed the set but he is a bit "marmite" and in your face IMO.

Cheers,

Tim

As Martin said, each to their own. Like model railways, music is a broad church and there's room for all.....................well, except rap   :-X

Yeah, now that song on NETE is excellent.

Whilst playing a compilation of rock tracks, one of them was Van der Graaf Generators 'Theme 1' which immediately took me back to the Tommy Vance Friday Rock show on the radio late 70s/early 80s. He had one helluva real name, though.
Richard Anthony Crispian Francis Prew Hope-Weston

Maybe this reminds some others of those radio days

Ooh er Missus @Newportnobby , I have often thought about posting VDGG but they are not for the feint hearted!

A school chum gave me a beaten up copy of "H to He, Who Am The Only One" and it took a lot of listens to get into it. "Killer" is a brilliant track. I now have ""Pawn Hearts" but it's fair to say VDGG are in a class of their own.

Cheers,

Tim

Friday Rock Show takes me back.

About 1974/5 I took my pocket money to the Glasgow Barrows (flee market) and bought a radio an amplifier ant two speakers.  All for the Friday Rock Show, my first stereo system.

Two for the price one! Here are two tracks from the forthcoming album by Jordan Rudness, the keyboard player of the mighty Dream Theater and featuring That Joe Payne on vocals (ex The Enid) and a local lad (Tring and Northampton) and Darby Todd on drums.

First up is "The Alchemist"...

And second is "Shadows of the Moon"...

I prefer the first, the second being a bit twee in places. See and hear what you think. The videos are superb.

Cheers,

Tim

Unsurprisingly close to Dream Theater, and I never really got on with them, despite having the 'Live at Budokan' 3CD set

Fleetwood Mac's Then Play on album from about 1970 had a big influence on my musical tastes.
This is, of course, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac in the original format.

One of the best tracks, in my opinion, was Underway.
Here it is performed by the PG Splinter Group :
