Brilliant, what a pair... of accomplished railway modellers!

Cheers,

This is a jolly little tune that I came across the other day.

Life's a beach by Touch and Go :

And here's a very poor live recording although I feel that the band are rather fighting against a totally uninterested audience :

And another live track (a far better produced video) - Would You

I'll get round to fixing it drekkly me 'ansome.

Back in 1970 or 71 a friend insisted we went to see a band called Osibisa who played a fusion of jazz rock/African and Caribbean music.
To say I was sceptical at the time was an understatement but how wrong was I.
A fabulous evening ensued which simply rocked along led by the sheer enthusiasm and enjoyment emanating from the stage.
I saw them, I believe, a further two times.
The band led by originator and sax player Teddy Osei  is still around today but, of course, in much changed form but still playing their joyful renditions including the classic Sunshine Day performed here in 2020 :

Thanks for this mention.
Never heard of Juliana Hatfield before but I'm quite impressed - especially My Sister.

Another band that slipped by me at the time Martin. I do remember the early album covers by Roger Dean (Yes etc.). YouTube has a live performance by Osibisa from the Marquee which might reflect your experience of seeing them live. I am not listening to anything at the moment but watching Gardener's World out of the corner of my eye!

Cheers,

Tim

Osiba were a victim of the "falling between 2 stools" syndrome - not quite African, not quite funk, not quite rock.

Another victim of this syndrome was Third World in the late seventies who were not quite reggae, not quite soul?

That's weird. I was just listening to Osiba in the car this morning!

Found it on a USB stick I recorded some years ago. For some reason I used to rate them, not sure why.

The best thing on the USB stick is that it is followed by Monty Python's "Eric the half a bee"  ;D
Vision over visibility. Bono, U2.

Phil Spector's Christmas Album has just had its annual outing  :)

As a Chrisymas music Grinch, I have put together my own selection on Spotify of all sorts of rock/heavy metal covers and grumpy Christmas songs which is getting a LOT of listening at the moment to alleviate the Wham moments, Fairytales and White Christmases!

Otherwise, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL

Best wishes
Simon

I hope you included the Greedy Bastards ?

Hi all you music lovers out there on the Forum (quite a few!) and our dear friend at Poppingham @Train Waiting .

Here is something rather festive that's not Slade or Wham et al. I heard this on "In Tune" (Radio 3) a few days ago and really enjoyed it.

Hope you like it and if you ever wondered what happened to The Swingle Singers, here is your answer.

A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,

Tim
