Mick, @Newportnobby , well I was really expecting to hear a monstrous riff coming in but it didn't!

Great to hear some acts that are new to me, thank you both.

Tim
Hi Tim
I didn't recognise the name Caro Emerald but when I listened in I realised that I recognise a few songs. Good stuff.

New to me but I'm always up for listening to new stuff.
I've just listened to a few tracks.
It's ok but not really my think.

A band that are still around but hail from the early 1970s.
If you like smooth, laid back afro beat music this might just be for you.
I really, really like this but can appreciate that it certainly won't be to everyone's taste :

Very tasty indeed, Cymande must have gone under my radar from way back then. Thanks for posting Martin @port perran . Somewhere in there is a bit of Roy Budd's "Get Carter"

And now for something completely different, I listened to this last night. Dim the lights and light a joss stick if you have 23 minutes to spare! The band I have seen live most times... not so good now I am afraid but still going.

Ah....I wondered what was coming but I didn't even need to listen to Nine Feet Underground.
Caravan were part of the legendary "Canterbury Sound". I probably saw them three times. They were quite superb and Nine Feet Underground is, to my mind, a masterpiece.
I first heard it on the John Peel Show in probably 1971 (aged 17) and I was hooked.
Wonderful music but I agree, not so good now.

I know nothing of Roy Budd but just having a listen. I see what you mean.

Thanks Martin @port perran . I first saw them at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane when they recorded "Caravan and The New Symphonia" live album. The original line up was the best but with so many personnel comings and goings I thought "Blind Dog at St. Dunstans" was their last decent offering and lost touch with them after that for a long while. I last saw them in January 2013 in London but the magic had gone a bit and sometimes I think some things are best left alone. Richard Coughlan (drums) died later in this year and had been ill for a while and was not playing and I wasn't keen on his replacement. I am not sure if I would want to see them again. Delighted that you are a fan and appreciate the unmistakable talent they had in the 70s mixing rock, prog, folk and jazz! I am listening to the "The Dabsong Conshirtoe" (SIC) as I type - brilliant

Whilst waiting for my evening meal I'm listening to this :
https://youtu.be/OWuGY-2X_CQ?si=fPwo7feKI49x8Zjj
I never saw Taste but did see Rory Gallagher with his band about 4 times.
My partner, Lorraine, saw him at least a dozen times.
One of the finest, yet relatively little known, guitarists of the 60s/70s his life was tragically cut short.
I saw him on one memorable evening at Devizes Corn Exchange when we had a power cut.
Undeterre, Rory sat on the edge of the stage in virtual darkness and played a 2.5 hour acoustic set.
Wonderful memories.

Also very tasty (boom-boom!) from @port perran . Indeed a fine guitarist (Rory Gallagher) from the golden era of music. Great backing on drums, bass and I believe Rory on sax. Thanks for posting Martin.

Cheers,

Tim

PS It sounds like both you and Lorraine have been to a lot of good gigs!

Gosh, I have just spotted that it is almost 50 years ago to the day when I first saw Caravan - 28 October 1973!

Where does the time go.... ooh Sandy Denny/Fairport Convention.

Now...I never saw them for some reason but Liege and Lief was as inspirational album and still one of my favourites.

As for bands, we have both seen quite a few.
Growing up (aged 17-20ish) I used to go to a tiny venue in Devizes - The Corn Exchange.
Many of the big bands of the day used it to do warm up gigs before big British tours.
We saw loads back in the day - Hawkwind, Yes, King Crimson, Curved Air, Rory, Lindisfarne, Focus, Chicken Shack, Edgar Broughton, Strawbs, Man those are just a few straight off the top of my head.
Others we used to see at Bath and Bristol.
They were great days and great music.
I'm still very much into music but have moved on. I love discovering new artists.

Wow Martin, I have seen 4 of those, some twice.

Last one today for you, found this from David Sinclair.

It certainly brings it all back to me!
