Although my back is hurting like mad, I've managed to spend two hours cutting up wood and screwing them together to make the legs and supports for my layout.  I've aso cust some MDF sheets ready to lay on top.  It's all very exciting!   ;D  Hopefully tomorrow I can actually fit the legs to the battening on the walls, and then get the boards down.  All I need now is two pieces of 1m by 1m pieces of MDF to make the big board at the back of the room.  It's only taken a year to get to this stage.

Got all my paperwork from South West Trains over Xmas, so now have the job offer in writing with a start date of 30th January. Gave 2 weeks notice to my current employer today so I will have a few weeks between jobs to get my layout started.  :beers:

So, this is the happy thread, then, is it?
Well happy new year to the lot of you.
May 2012 see you healthy, and indeed wealthy enough to enjoy this great hobby of ours.
If you're N-gauging, it usually means everything else in your life is going ok, so let's see plenty of it from all of you.
Cheers  :beers:

After 4-5 months of fighting for a mortgage with one firm my son, his partner and my grandson were finally rewarded with a 'yes' result last night.
Now comes the rush to complete before the seller gets cheesed off and withdraws the property
At last they can move out of their 4th floor single bedroom flat   :beers: :beers:

I've recently decided to have a serious push at making my model railway. Then I thought about doing a smaller one downstairs first, just to give myself a chance at making all the stupid mistakes before I tackle the big one in the spare room.

The wife agreed very easily (not sure what she wants yet but I guess she'll tell me soon :)). I found a piece of insulation board that I saw used by polo2k elsewhere on the forum. I suggested getting a small 'train set' just so I could get a single transformer instead of using the double one from upstairs. I figure a 4x2 board will only have 1 train at a time running. She agreed to this as well!

I ordered the set from Hattons yesterday afternoon...and it came this morning!! Now I have no excuse. I can get started. Even if it's only little it's better than nothing.  :D

I should be safe on that one. I don't think she spell 'N gauge' so she'll never know I was talking about her!
