That looks lovely, but it definitely needs some weathering. I haven't seen an HST that clean since the 1970s!  ;)

(And even then it was only for the first day of service, before they were 'worn in' a bit.)
Yes no doubt I'll do some weathering on it at some stage, it looks far too clean  :D, will give it a while of running in 1st though. :)

mr bachmann

the new Ivatt arrived this morning from the big H shop near Penny Lane , i wont post a picky as you've seen them already but - after running in for a bit I fitted the decoder the 'new' 6 pin Bachmann one ( for a novice  the instruction sheet shows No1 pin wrong side ! ) , still it runs so smoothly - but i've noticed on DC voltage , stop the loco in forward motion then re-start everything ok , but if the controller is very slowly turned reverse running is obtained , stop the loco and set off forwards , this can be repeated often , on DCC the loco works as normal .

so not only do we have poor running locos , it seems quality control is slipping when they program decoders .

You just can't be left alone for a minute, Dave

I wasn't, my Dad was with me   :P  :D

Anyway what do you expect when a certain trader gets a box of goodies from behind the stand  :uneasy:

I think I did well to just come away with the wagons
Still don't know how I managed to refuse the Collectors club Black 5  :worried:
Maybe it was the £90 price tag that swayed the decision

After some investigation, I realised I could assemble a collection of locos and stock named G--- C--- which are my initials without costing a huge fortune.

Here's Farish's 60156 Great Central and Dapol's Grand Central HST buffet car for starters, eventually I'll get hold of the HST train pack.
I can also re-name a Poole-made Farish Castle which I already own with an appropriate name.

I also bought a Birmingham Guy Arab as I was born there, however I'll need to look for photos showing one of these in its driver-training status around 1965, but don't know whether the same livery was kept and/or any other detail changes required.

Good purchase. I have a few of these lovely little things, all of which are going to have to be re-lettered for Southern Railway ownership.

Evening all,

Well these lovely pair arrived at work at roughly 11:00 this morning, so by 17:02 they were on the layout :D They are superb models.
