General Discussion / Re: what are you listening to ...Last post by joe cassidy - Yesterday at 08:56:16 PMI prefer Neil Young's version of "Four Strong Winds" to the original.
Also, I prefer UB40's versions of "Kingston Town", "Red, Red Wine" and "Impossible Love" to the originals. #32

General Discussion / Re: what are you listening to ...Last post by port perran - Yesterday at 07:55:24 PMI agree regarding Santana Tim, I believe it to be superior to the original.
I've never heard the Patricia Barber version before but I'm quite taken by it. This is a jazz version by Janice Hagan that I rather like : https://youtu.be/pY0y_1cKhxI?si=OeNXmf0juLqbqhXW #37

General Discussion / Re: what are you listening to ...Last post by Moonglum - Yesterday at 07:32:32 PMFor me it has to be Santana's "BMW", again I heard this before the Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green) original. Looking on the net there are many many covers of it and I do have this rather fine cover by Patricia Barber on her live CD "Companion"...
https://youtu.be/d8laNBfDJms?feature=shared Sonically and recording wise it is an exceptional live CD from 1999. The guitarist though is not Santana. Cheers, Tim PS Martin @port perran , I struggle with anything Bob Dylan unless Hendrix has a bash at it! #39
General Discussion / Re: what are you listening to ...Last post by port perran - Yesterday at 06:38:02 PMI'm with Tim @Moonglum on this.
I rather prefer Frijid Pink's version of House of the Rising Sun. There are also plenty of cover versions of other songs that I prefer, including pretty much all cover versions of Dylan songs. The Hollies Sing Dylan album is an excellent example of this. I've just got in from a long day returning to our old cottage in Cornwall but I'll try to post some examples of great cover versions over the next few days. As a starter for 10, which is the best version of Black Magic Woman written by Peter Green? Cheers Martin #40
