Humbug !
They start early in Sierrashire. I'm still waitin' for me Doc Martins for me birthday! ::)
It's Father's Day here on Sunday. I've asked for a new tool box.... might arrive by Christmas :uneasy:
Bah Humbug!!! I am not even thinking about it yet, not been on my Hols yet.

Some food, coal and kindling if I spend all my money at TINGS!
Von Ryan's Express on the telly and NOT my sister and family to stay.
Thanks for reminding us all of the impending doom!
Bah humbug indeed!
Isn't it absolutely horrid when all the in-laws descend. Thankfully that's history for Bealman.
I used to hate it even though we could kick them out into the backyard in the Aussie summer!
Having said that, I do think early September is a bit early for humbug. Sorta like Easter eggs appearing in the supermarkets the day after Boxing Day. It happens here, I kid you not. >:(

Von Ryan's Express on the telly
Reminds me of a chappie I worked with, when he looked at the tv guide
for the festive season he would moan because " there were no good war
films on at Christmas"
Peace and goodwill, deck the halls, blah blah blah........

Happens here too, I know because I once delivered them into stores three days BEFORE Christmas! :D
Paul
More importantly for me........if it's 113 shopping days till Christmas it's 114 shopping days till I retire :claphappy: :claphappy: :laugh3:
On the other hand Christmas Day isn't a shopping day so I suppose it's still 113 shopping days till I retire ???
Another vote for 'Bah. Humbug' here

You load of Misery's.... I thought everyone loved Christmas... Can't wait to open those n gauge pressies :claphappy:
Stuff yer turkey! :D
Don't you mean haggis? :D ;)
No, wrong thing to do, turkey doesn't cook through properly and takes longer. The stuffing ends up soggy too ;)
Better to bake stuffing separately, that way the turkey gets hot air circulation inside as well
Here endeth the cookery lesson :D
Paul
It must be great to be an expert on EVERYTHING !!
Yeah it must be, personally I wouldn't know about that though, I just happen to do a lot of cooking ;D

Haggis is made from oatmeal and sheep's guts. It's not as nice as it sounds. :D
Haggis is lovely, has to be Macsween's though ;)

Wot - no N Gauge ones?
Don't think a haggis the size of a lentil would sell, and no Z gauge ones either. :)
I would rather have Black Pudding than Haggis :)

Two words, and the second is 'Off', you can guess the first >:(
And if you think Macsweens haggis is the best Paul, then you need to get out more, there are some fantastic artisan butchers who still hand make haggis and they leave Macsweens for dust.

Discussing the merits of various haggis is like dicussing the pleasures of various forms of root canal surgery ;)
Anyway, how did we get from Christmas to Burn's night?

I think we took a wrong turn at Hogmanay........
You are not going to dampen my enthusiasm....now lets all sing along together "I`m dreaming of a White Xmas" or maybe it should "I`m dreaming of a Blue Diesel"...... :help:

Yeah DD does work wonders... as a cure for constipation. That's about all it was good for.
We get Christmas twice over in Tenerife, because there are so many Brits here Xmas is celebrated on the 25th of December, but the locals prefer to celebrate on the 6th of January (3 Kings Day).
Only get one batch of presents though (on the 25th of December), and it is our Wedding Anniversary on the 5th of January - which is Xmas Eve for Canarians.
Celebrations normally seem to last forever, but this year off on a cruise on the 30th of December (from Tenerife to the Caribbean) so will be letting the New Year in on board ship, which is a first.
Son & Daughter are both well aware that I am building a model railway here, so I think I know what kind of presents to expect from them, will just have to drop some hints about what I would like. It's my birthday just before Xmas, and my son's on Xmas day itself, so it's always a special part of the year in our family, as we also have other family members with birthdays in December.
Maybe (but I doubt it) Farish will release their new Duchess model set in January (which I have on pre-order), and it would be nice to return from our cruise and find a package from Hattons waiting for me on our return containing that said set.
Still waiting for the the new weathered green Deltic CL37 which was supposedly available June/July.
Still a bit early for seasons greetings, but I have a feeling that Xmas time will be upon us all before we know it.

I don't doubt they are probably miles better, and more authentic too, not much good in Hertfordshire though unless they do mail order :D

...and there he was, a boy no more,
Just a stomach, on the floor.
Nonetheless, since it was his,
They ate it - that's what haggis is.
No, it's not - ed. (Monty Python)
Just realised that I've forgotten to start the sprouts cooking. I'll have to cancel Christmas!

On the other main Forum I use (the Stag Owners Forum), I produce a Calendar for the New Year featuring members cars. The one I did for 2014 you can see here :-
http://s379.photobucket.com/user/Tdmak/library/StagCalendar2014 (http://s379.photobucket.com/user/Tdmak/library/StagCalendar2014)
Click on each photo to see it full size. The current years Calendar featured Paintings of various Stag cars by one of our members.
If there was sufficient interest on here I could do same featuring trains (model or real) if members sent me pictures they would like to see and specify the month they would like them to appear on.
Of course there could only be 12 pictures featured (1 for each month) - so someone would have to decide which were the best 12.
Let me know what you think. All you would have to do would be to access the Calendar site (which would be on Photobucket), download the pictures, and print them on glossy paper or cardboard on your PC, then pin or staple the sheets together to create a "turnover" Calendar of your own which is exactly what Stag owners do.
Nice idea. Could you do a Continental one as well?
However, for the growing 'Xmas Misery Brigade', the XMB as we shall become to be known, you could do a BAH HUMBUG ADVENT CALENDER - 25 things you hate about Christmas!
I'll start off with HAVING TO BE NICE TO PEOPLE YOU DON'T LIKE, SPROUTS and 'THOUGHTFUL' PRESENTS (give'em what they want, not what YOU'D think they'd like!!!)
Going back to the original thread, I would like some Piko SNCF Couchette coaches. They are very expensive so it's only birthday's and Christmas for these as I would feel dirty and guilty buying them myself.
Cheers weave
So you get someone to buy them for you... clever move... :uneasy:
Below is what a Calendar page might look like for the New Year.
I have just chosen a picture at random for January.

Thanks to Dock Shunter I will be collecting my very early Christmas present at TINGS , Val has been very good and given me some money she must have a guilty conscious as she goes indoor skiing with my son Glenn at least once a week they are members at the Sno Center in Hemel Hempstead and I'm
Left at home all alone with my railway (Peace and quite) but very lonely
