Anyone know which red is the closest to the Olton Hall "Hogwarts Castle " Colour :NGAUGE:

it's quite a light shade of crimson (presumably for ease of filming) - LMS Crimson, perhaps?

Dapol, please note that the wheels are black. Magic, eh?

I find it very strange that they named and painted a 'hall class' locomotive 'hogwarts castle' (surely a castle class should have been chosen for this role!!!!)

In answer to your question, Hornby Railways of 00 fame released a train set a few years back featuring a 00 gauge hall in hogwarts castle livery. Have you considered E-Mailing them direct to ask what colour paint they used?

I provide the link to help you out: (use the contact us link on their page)

Hope this helps, all the best

Good idea, assuming they got it right? Having produced their model as a Castle Class not Hall!

I guess in real life the film directors were given a Hall to play with and then thought, it's going to Hogwarts Castle, Let's name it that. They may not have even known there was a Castle Class loco.

Does this mean we now have all the REMAKES to look forward to ?

JK Rowling actually requested a GWR 4-6-0 for the Hogwarts Express in the movies, as it is the sort of loco she imagined hauling the train in her books.

5972 happened to be available, so the rest is history.

Hornby used a Castle-Class for their model, as they had no available Hall in their range. Interestingly, Bachmann have the licence for HP stuff in the USA and have produced a set with a much more correct Hall and a couple of ex-Mainline Mk1s.

If you look at the buffer beam on Olton Hall you can see it's a tad brighter than the rest.
