Armed Forces Week is a national celebration of our Armed Forces organised by the Ministry of Defence. This year, celebrations will be held from the 21 June to the 27 June, with Reserves Day on the 23 June and Armed Forces Day on the 26 June.

My son is in the French army.

I'm hoping to see him march down the Champs Elysees on July 14.

guest311

will that be the normal march, or the slow LEF march  >:D

On Armed Forces Day, the national event in Scarborough has been cancelled - official line is postponed till 2022 ??? - but there are plenty of other events still going ahead.

regardless, I shall be wearing my veterans badge, and my RAF stable belt, WITH PRIDE.

SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) the Armed Forces charity, have published a survey which finds that less than 25% of Brits admire the Forces for their work during the fight against Covid-19. 40% of the British public were unaware that the Forces have supported the fight against Covid, with 53% surveyed unaware they helped with UK's vaccinations.

These are really dissapointing stats, especially considering this is Armed Forces Week. Would the MOD PR Dept. please wake up and get some forces personnel who are/have been on Covid duties, introduced to the press pronto please?!

Armed Forces Week is a chance to show your support, and provides a much-valued morale boost to the men and women who make up the Armed Forces Community including:

Serving Personnel - The UK Armed Forces defend the UK and its interests. They are busy working around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers, providing security, fighting terrorism and contributing in the fight against Covid-19.

Veterans - A veteran is anyone who has served in the HM Armed Forces at any time (including National Servicemen, Regulars and Reserves). Armed Forces Day celebrates their continued role within the military community.

Reservists - Reservists give up their spare time to serve in the Reserve Forces, balancing their civilian life with a military career to ensure that should their country require them, they would be ready to serve.

Cadets - The Cadet Forces (Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, Air Cadets and the Combined Cadet Force) currently support over 130,000 young people in more than 3,000 locations across the UK. Cadets learn life and career building skills as well as gaining vocational qualifications.

Families - Our Armed Forces couldn't do their job without the incredible support of their family and friends.

Today is RESERVES DAY in the UK.

Reservists are everywhere, but you might not know it. So on Reserves Day, our Reservists wear their uniform in their civilian life.

Reservists give up their spare time to serve in the Reserve Forces, balancing their civilian life with a military career to ensure that should their country require them, they would be ready to serve as part of the military.

The Reserve Forces make up approximately one sixth of our Armed Forces personnel and as such are integral to protecting the nation's security at home and overseas, particularly providing capability in specialist areas such as medical and cyber. Reservists have also been contributing in the fight against Covid-19.

Challenge accepted  ;)
Mechanical issues can be solved with a hammer and electrical problems can be solved with a screw driver. Beyond that it's verbal abuse which makes trains work!!

Armed Forces Day is tomorrow then. Obviously it won't be as big a day as it might've been. The national event in Scarborough has been postponed till 2022, having already been postponed from 2020! It's a pity since the Armed Forces Community have really stepped forward this past year.

You can see all events that are still safely going ahead here and find other ways of getting safely involved here.

If you've got medals (or stable belt, or beret, etc.) and are out and about tomorrow, please wear them with pride! If anyone asks you about them, please engage (at a safe distance) in conversation. Our Armed Forces have got a lot smaller over the past 4 decades, so inevitably the number of folk who know nothing about the Armed Forces increases.

No events near me, so I'll be visiting First & Second World War pals at Oxford (Headington) Cemetery. You can find details of all Commonwealth War Graves Commission tended cemeteries here.

If you are a member of the Armed Forces Community, be proud and enjoy your day! :beers:

A very happy Armed Forces Day to all our Forces community! Today, we salute all the men and women (and animals) who serve our nation, from those currently serving to Service families, veterans, and cadets.

and of course, you will I'm sure, note that it is the brain on a chain that had the presence on mind to put his paw on the flag, in case the F3 scrambled and the flag was blown away  :smiley-laughing:

a lead has two ends
loop end - reads, writes - feeds / grooms clip end
clip end - the brain on a chain

lastly, BROWN boots ????

and on this auspicious day, green webbing

oh dear, defence cuts again  :'(

That's a GR4 mark of Tornado...

Short nose, sensors under the cockpit and serial in the ZA range.

Best

Scott.
If you know someone who's depressed, please resolve never to ask them why. Depression isn't a straightforward response to a bad situation; depression just is, like the weather.Try to understand the blackness, lethargy, hopelessness, and loneliness they're going through. Be there for them when they come through the other side. It's hard to be a friend to someone who's depressed, but it is one of the kindest, noblest, and best things you will ever do."
