I know it's been discussed many times before but why do Hattons insist on using Yodel. Not for the first time I specified Royal Mail but they've gone and used Yodel. Yodel lost my Blue Pullman for a couple of days before a Mk2 Corsa driving hoodie literally chucked it on my doorstep at around 8 at night. I chose RM 2 day tracked as we are in on Saturday to receive it. Having used Yodel 24 hour it means that as long as Yodel don't lose it it will be dumped in full view on my doorstep tomorrow. Why give you the option of carrier if they take no notice. I'm sure Yodel is fine in many areas but around here it is atrocious.

I think you'll find Yodel delivered domestic parcels for DHL my daughter had a parcel delivered to our house because she lost two so called Yodel deliveries , when it arrived it was DHL and the driver said that they were stopping Yodel and delivering themselves again ,NOT sure if that's true but that's what thier driver told me AND I had to sign for it .Yodel  just dumped one on the doorstep and drove of a few weeks ago although when my daughter tracked it it had a scribbled signature as received so it's not just Hattons but they have been told of the problem by other Forum members so why still use Yodel they are :censored: :censored:

Sorry Gareth, I cannot answer your question directly, but do Hattons give you a choice of courier when delivering? I know they wouldn't accept FedEx when I asked them.

Simple answer is buy from someone that meets your specific requirements. It's your hard earned money you are spending and sellers should be doing their utmost to serve YOU. If you're having items dropped on the doorstep or delivered on days when you are not around, take your custom elsewhere.

I think with the rise of internet shopping, for me at least, delivery options are a big influence on where I shop. If I receive friendly and co-operative service then I'm much more likely to be a repeat customer.

Just my two penny's worth. Power to the consumer is what I say! Sorry I couldn't answer the question, but don't be afraid to vote with your wallet.

I accept, of course, that for most occasions, Royal Mail is good enough.

To give Hattons their due they replied within an hour to my complaint email replying just after 9pm. The trouble is there reply is next to useless.

'If you do not wish us to use Yodel or any other service than the option you have selected, please either mention this in the special instructions section on the website, or if you call the number below we can also note it at this end.'

What is the point of giving you options to select from if they will ignore it unless you use the special instruction box or ring them?

On the face of it they are trying to offer a good service as they state that they use Yodel after RM has made its collection for a quicker delivery but experience tells me otherwise. Also I didn't want a next day service as I won't be here.
We'll wait and see what happens.

Sounds like "cut and paste" to me Gareth. Well at least you got a reply offering you the option to request a different shipper. I just got a refusal e-mail.

Perhaps it's just a consequence of becoming "too big" and this can happen to any business unless they keep their hands firmly on the tiller wheel. The more customers you have, the harder it becomes to give them that individual / personalized service.

I complained several times and got fobbed off. I cancelled all my pre-orders and moved to Rails of Sheffield. Hatttons have IMHO really gone down the pan in terms of service.

Bought something from Rails of Sheffield a few days ago. Made an offer, which was accepted, realised they had two for sale and I actually wanted the other one (didn't see it at the time - same loco just box was slightly better). Asked them if they could kindly send me the other one and also specified that if possible please post on a day that would mean the package didn't arrive at the weekend, since nobody would be there to receive it.

Got a reasonably prompt reply and they were willing to accommodate me on both counts. Full marks to Rails of Sheffield - first time I've used them and I was happy.

I don't want to "bash" the other shop in question, but how can I buy from them if a) my means of delivery is not allowed and b) I don't get a reply to a query I submitted via their "contact us" box on their website? I think as consumers we are like a flowing current, or flowing water, we go where we get the least resistance. If I don't get a reply to a query from a business then I usually don't try a second time, I just go somewhere else.

I'm sure there will be others who say that they have had a good service from Hatton's, which is fair enough and I guess it all comes down to personal experiences.

Cheers

So son arrives Monday afternoons flight  for a short visit to see Mrs "H" .  We get phone call from the hospital Friday to come Tuesday morning for an ecographia at 10.00,  oh and she is NOT TO EAT that morning.  Mrs "H" insists we leave early to get to hospital early...9:50.  At 10:30 the nurses say the Dr is good but is always late...... 12:30 they say the doctor will not be coming, so come back Saturday morning..................   Oh and that is to go to the ER ask for Dr X  (not his real name) and pray that there are no serious cases to hand,,,,,,,,,,,, :veryangry: :veryangry:

Oh and our internet connection dropped out just as I was trying to buy a Farish 47 for under £30  :veryangry:

All in all though Mrs "H" is doing ok considering and just one more chemo to go,

Fingers crossed that the hospital can help and Mrs H will feel a lot better afterwards it's going to be a long month but I'm sure you will all  be a lot happier at the end of the treatment Will be thinking of Mrs H keep us all posted,

Rant time !!!

So we arrived at the Hospital in Lucca 50 mins drive awayat 8;30  for the appointment they made yesterday. DR arrives 9:15 good... Dr doesnt speak English (the last specialist was young female GOOD LOOKING and fluent).  Bad for Mrs "H" as I then have to listen, repeat back in Italian to  to Dr so that I know I have  understood and then translate to Mrs "H".   OK  ish so far.  Then the bombshell, they are closing the radiotherapy dept in Lucca, there is a new Hospital but the Radio unit isn't ready, so we will now have to go to  Pisa.   This can be up to 1.5 hours drive and wev will have to go  every day for 5 weeks starting either mid December or January.
May now have to rent an apartment for the duration for us and Charlie dog.  Euros ????? .  So I guess I will not be splashing out on the railway in a hurry.

Mrs "H" is having a better day today, but I feel MAN FLU coming on.....   Where is that wine bottle....here
