Could anyone confirm if Graham Farish coach wheels code 379-412 are actually 7mm in diameter, I have searched round and there seems to be confusion as to the actual diameter. or is there an alternative supplier as I would require between 500 and 1000.

Thanks Bob

Dr Al

Measuring, they are diameter 6.25mm (not inc flanges) and 7.35mm (including flanges).

Cheers,
Alan

At the other extreme does anyone know a source of very small wheels for wagons of say 3.5mm diameter or less?

Thanks

The smallest I have used are from the Fleischmann rolling road flatbed wagons, but I'm not sure if they are available as spare parts? From memory they are about 3mm diameter I think (but would need to go and measure). I acquired mine as a special favour from the Fleischmann importer at the time, but basically by cannibalising a wagon for its bogies.

[edit] Yep, 3mm diameter across the tyres.

The old cheapo Bachmann US 4-4-0 had very small wheels for its tender bogies, a cheap scrapper might turn up on ebay or at a show?

Old Farish loco pilot/pony wheels? they won't have pinpoint axles though.

Assuming 8 to a coach that's only between 62 and 125 coaches, though

That part number is for complete axlesets - so it could be twice as many coaches !!!

Not quite,

It's an enquirery I have had from the guy who is putting together an etched kit for the Gresley triple set of restaurant coaches and is struggling as to where he can obtain the correct 7mm wheels. He is hoping to make them available as a complete kit, so for example if he sells 25 kits he will require 400 sets of wheels.

ATM (Ben Ando and Bernie Taylor) used to do smaller wheels for eg Farish early Freightliner wagons (FFA/FGA)

Don't know if these are still available.

Ah' coach wheels. I am beavering away making a number of coaches from brass etches.
Have been using the Graham Farish wheels sold in packs of ten. Never bothered to measure them as they suit my purposes very well.
The price of a ten pack (strange number of axles, why not 12?) has noticeably risen in cost of late, as have most  Farish products.

Can anyone please advise of an alternative source of same size coach wheels of comparable quality, that could be purchased in bulk? Advice here would be much appreciated.

Ah-ha yes the 3mm wheels are available as spares from Fleischmann

Are any of these wheels any use for the coach wheels?    (Expensive and probably not available in bulk though?)  Some of them look like the ex-Roco N wheels which had shorter axles than original Fleischmann items.
