hey everyone,

can anyone recommend a good supply of plastic pipettes?  (for mixing paints and thinners)

I have been practising with an airbrush today... I think I need more scientific accuracy in my paint mixing... I have just been guessing so far (I know the consistency is supposed to be like semi-skimmed milk)...

I also just wondered, for weathering purposes, should paint be thinner than for a normal painting task?

I am using acrylics and obviously acrylic thinners (life colour brand, although I have some rail match paints to try next).

cheers for your help,

tim

For mixing paints,  I found a Badger paint mixer invaluable

but now I use Vallejo and mix much smaller quantities, I don't need it so much.

An artists palette, I find good for mixing small quantities - I picked one up cheap from the local art shop
Just one Pendolino, give it to me, a beautiful train, from Italy

ozzie Bill.

I use a glass pipette that I picked up at the high st chemist. it was so cheap I honestly cannot remember how much. I take the bulb off after use to kake sure I have cleaned it thoroughly. Cheers, Bill.

Being a retired science teacher, I always got mine from me lab. Ooops  :-X

Actually, I never 'borrowed' pipettes. I would take droppers home, however I'd make them meself with bits of glass tubing and the good 'ole Bunsen Burner!

Plastic pipettes are not much use with paint but can be bought cheap enough off Ebay.

Like Pengi I use small amounts so generally just mix/thin as I need.  I must admit I don't always mix accurately in terms of measurement, I generally mix 60/40. acrylic to water, however differing paints mix at different ratio so it can be more by trial and error.
