Hi all
We received some good news this evening :hmmm:
Mother and baby will be leaving hospital in the morning  :claphappy:  :claphappy:
I am so proud of the pair of them that they have done so well to get this far so quickly
Considering what my daughter went through during her pregnancy it is nothing short of a miracle  :admiration:
:beers:
Dave

Congratulations from me too, and out of interest what Hospital were they in?

When my son was born in Chorley Hospital in 1978, there was a problem as the afterbirth was stuck, and my wife (and baby) had to be rushed by Ambulance to Preston Hospital.
It was Xmas Day so there wasn't much traffic around and I couldn't keep up with the Ambulance in the car I was following in as it sped through red traffic lights, and I had to stop a policeman to ask the way to Sharoe Green Hospital as I had no idea where it then was.
The Hospital were great (performing the necessary emergency operation immediately) and mother & son were released (back to Chorley Hospital) the next day, and the day after (December 27th) were allowed home.

Wife and son even got their pictures in the paper (Lancashire Evening Post) because it was a Xmas Day birth, and were given a silver spoon by the Hospital as a momento - bet that wouldn't happen now!.

That is great news Dave

I have no doubt Alfie will become one of the most photographed babies over the next few months  :D

I hope you all can settle down to a more relaxing life  ;)

cheers John.

Sounds like a rather stressful time for you, But I'm pleased that everything worked out well in the end

My daughter was in Wigan Infirmary
I know I have made some posts in the angry thread about the hospital  :hmmm:

But I can't fault the way the Maternity/Neo-natal department have treated us over the last week and a half

anyway I'm off to look at the latest pics my daughter has sent me  :D

:beers:

dave

Can you be accused of going off-topic in the Happy Thread? - but your mention of Wigan brought back memories of my early youth.

Wigan FC were then playing teams like Chorley in the Lancashire Combination,
and Billy Boston of Rugby League fame was better known than any Wigan footballer.
Used to dance the night away in Wigan Casino (which no longer exists), and I passed my Driving Test in Wigan in a new Triumph Herald.
Had an Aunty who lived in Standish, and I don't know if they still exist, but one of my young mates was a Tony Cassinelli who started the "Cassinellis" Restaurant Chain. Tony, myself, and 2 other local lads hired a brand new Ford Corsair from "Williams of Wigan" and drove it to the Costa Brava and back for our Summer Holidays.
When I lived in Duxbury, Chorley one of our neighbours was a Mr Miller who had a large Motorcycle and used car dealership in Wigan and my father and I bought a few cars from him including an Austin A40 (which I also drove to Spain with some different mates this time), and afterwards both my father and I bought a Sunbeam Rapier each off Mr Miller.
Those were happy days so I am not really going off topic making this reply in the Happy Thread am I?

I hate to burst your bubble Terry but all the places you mention above have gone
I remember staring at the fine collection of motorbikes in Millers longing for the day I would be old enough to ride one

You probably wouldn't recognise the town these days

Just picked up a compressor with tank auto shut off and regulator along with a gravity fed .3mm airbrush. Spotted on ebay, local seller, so offered a cash deal off ebay. £45 all in... happy days!

After leveling out and making more gradual the incline on the "up & over" portion of my track, trains climb it much better than before, although DMUs and EMUs still seem to have difficulty with inclines.
That was last night & tonight 2 granddaughters out of our 5 grandchildren arrive in Tenerife for a 10 day half-term holiday so looking forward to a good week although can't see myself being allowed much time alone with my layout.
Also got a reply from Peters Spares yesterday who are supplying me (VAT free) with a replacement chassis for my Class 47 engine which I had "buggered" up trying to fix when it started playing up.
Same day also got an email from Osborns, who after having there Website amended on my request to include the Canary Isles, have despatched an order to me (again VAT free).

Up early this morning (well 6.30) bank holiday Sunday. Went out to a car show
with 19 of us attending from the Series2club - (Land Rovers club display stand)
at of all places, Brands Hatch. What a day, stand/display was on the grass bank
opposite the pits and along side the starting grid.

This weekend was the Masters Historic Festival. All types of racing cars and races
with cars from the 1940s up to 2000. What a site and sound they were.

When we left tonight, we were all tired (there for 11hrs) - sunburnt and almost deaf.

But boy, was it worth it.  :claphappy:

Me thinks I'll be going again next year  :)
