Had this a couple of times this morning. Has anyone else?

it does say the server's resources are under a high demand. I suppose it is a shared server, so maybe the other user is Amazon😁

There is a problem with the forum and it's slowing it right down. :( I'm looking into it, thanks!

Nope, not a shared server. ;) Well, only by the N Gauge SouthEast show website and a couple of other very low traffic site of mine.
I've had exactly the same message three times this morning.
All ok again now though.

Has it a direct internet connection or is it going via a gateway?
Whatever it was, it's back to normal this morning. Thanks @Tank (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2) and team. :thankyousign:
Seems fine here too this morning.
Mind you, it is still before 8-00!
Maybe someone has put the boot in on rebooted the server as it's heaps better
Is there still issues with the servers chaps? Have found it very slow (from 2 different computers in 2 different counties) this past week and just got Error 500 messages this afternoon which suggests server problems I think.
Also found moving from page to page very slow when they do load
Funny, I was just thinking how it's been faster for the past few days than it was not so long ago. I'm getting good responses to page links etc.

Maybe the internet cables struggle too push all the data up North? Seriously though, have tried all the usual things like clearing cache etc but finding it slow here in Fife and also in Dundee. Apart from the errors, it took nearly 10s for the page to refresh after I made that last post.
It was not so bad earlier today but now it's like a sloth carrying a bag of very heavy shopping. From clicking 'Reply' it took 40 seconds to allow me to do so ::)
Out of curiosity (I have no clue about these things) the young (in his forties is young to me) guy next door has been working from home since the Covid-19 struck and he works in the telecomms industry. He told me last week he has some mega speed internet system due to his work needs, and I'm just wondering whether his system is swamping poor li'l me with my BT Infinity?
5 seconds to get the reply box up
Server seems to be under too much stress this evening.
I've had this message a few times in the last ten minutes.
Anyone else experiencing problems?
yea its been sluggish the last day or 2,would appear bots have taken an interest in n gauge https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=51133.0 (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=51133.0)
Even with much of the forum hidden to guests I still find it a lot slower than other sites I frequent but do appreciate it has speeded things up a little. Still get the odd 'timed out' message now and then
I found the forum a bit slower than usual yesterday but it seems back to normal today.
cheers,
Chris
Everything quick and normal on the phone while having a beer at the club.
Just reporting in, like.
Getting quite a few 'timed out' messages this evening
Wednesday morning here on hotel Wi-Fi in Port Macquarie, working fine at moment
OK, so I'm lying in bed looking at me phone, but the forum seems slow tonight. Just the Antipodes, I guess?
All good here.
It's me phone, boss. Sorry!
The forum is wizzing along here right now but was pretty slow at about 10-30 this morning.
Getting a few of these again
(https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/gallery/94/264-030620114017-9474359.jpeg)
not got one of those yet, touch wood, but very slow here today.
guess the forum is getting too popular ....
:NGF:
It was slow for me earlier this afternoon but seems to be okay now. (Thought the signal might have been struggling in the fog).
I've had a few of those "Too busy" pop ups, someone's obviously not feeding Herbert the hamster again.
Forum hardly useable this morning.
Slow as a snail carrying a bag of heavy shopping and error messages all over the place. Keep being kicked off with "Sorry. SMF was unable to connect to the database. Busy" and the usual "resources under too high demand".
Have managed to successfully make 2 posts in ½ an hour so far :unimpressed:
No problems here Mick, could it be your ISP?

No, Trev. Any other website = no problems.
It's better now so someone must have put another 50p in the meter.

Or fed the hamster!
Too many Lancastrians on the forum maybe. We could limit the number at any time of the day, that would sort it
I'm not a Lancastrian  :nerner:
You're using Lancastrian phone lines, that's good enough for me :P
Can somebody feed the hamster please? The forum is, for me, extremely slow this morning, (including a 'too busy' message').
I think 'turgid' is the word, David :(

Well I don't spell it that way. :)
Incredibly slow here this morning.
Two or three times I haven't been able to access the forum at all.
There seems to be no logic here. I can open 9 messages and each will take anything up to half a minute or more to open and then the 10th opens almost immediately ??? :confused2:
Intermittently sluggardly pedestrian this morning.
But then it's raining a lot so maybe the hamster wheel bearings are rusting up. :hmmm:
Not bothering me though.
As I say very, very slow - that's on ipad, phone and laptop.
I keep getting this message :

This post has taken 4 minutes so far and I haven't posted it yet.
Everything else on the internet is flying.
Seems a bit slow to me now too. Probably too many Lancastrians again + Mick @Newportnobby (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=264) :D

You're right John, very slow at the moment :( probably all the kids having to home school slowing the world down, and all the parents online ordering in more alcohol ;D

It only affects the forum, then? My e mail and other fora + websites are just fine ???
Very Very Slooooooooow here today, one of the worse days I have encountered since the lockdown of guests to many areas of the Forum.
Other sites on the net at normal speeds, so is obviously a Forum problem

sorry @Tank (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2) , but I think you'll need to buy another hamster :smiley-laughing:

Has someone just done something?
Suddenly the forum is flying (literally in the last 5 mins).

That didn't last long.....it's gone back to a snail's pace I'm afraid.
Yes, slower for me too today, about 15 seconds to get from one page to the next I select.
Doesn't worry me too much, it's always worth the wait.
Yes I have noticed it's been slow for a few days, not my internet so can't blame Virgin Media.
Compared to the last few days the forum is tazzing along nicely but don't tell anyone else, mind :zippedmouth:
I've noticed no appreciable difference in the speed of this site as compared to the Internet as a whole. I use the Internet for a few hours a day for a variety of tasks and it's been sluggish for the past year - even before the Covid pandemic. It's remarkable to me that there haven't been significant crashes of entire regions of the Internet. This technology is just incredibly complex!
Leon
Definitely been a problem over the past week, sometimes taking 20 seconds for a page to load. Slightly better this morning.
I have high speed fibre connection and all my other sites are fine.
I've cleared the forum cache again, but the forum, due to having a lot of add-ons over the years does get sluggish from time to time. I'm waiting for a new upgrade from Simple Machines which has been under test for many months. Then, an expensive upgrade!
Eyup, the forum is suddenly taking ages to refresh, and it has already timed out on me once. Is anyone else experiencing this, or do I just need to talk nicely to my laptop?
Cheers,
Chris
Me too, and my laptop is brand new?
Little slow working off a phone but patience required. Wondering here if people working off home, children, students etc being home, sheer volume of traffic on masts etc
Just happy being patient
been slow for me all day also timed out twice
John
Just wanted to acknowledge that the performance of the Forum has been significantly improved over the last week or so.
Thank you to those involved in fixing it.
Brian
Thanks for the feedback. It has a mind of its own at times! :D
Yes agreed, response times much faster in March!
PM system and N'Porium system very turgid today, yet everything else relatively OK :confused2:
Forum has high demand and can't show unread posts. Had this several times, also couldn't open a post. Then it picked up. This was around 15:00, if there any server logs.
Been very slow in general today loading pages, however, no timeouts and all tasks eventually performed
