Which begs the question, apart from the UK, which other English speaking (and I use the phrase advisedly  ), countries, refer to the place where medications are procured as a chemist's shop?

In the US it's a pharmacy.

How about Oz, Canada, etc, etc?

In the US it's a pharmacy.

I think they are being called that more in the UK too - I suspect the reason for the term "chemist's shop" is a hanging on from when such stores actually sold chemicals of all sorts, rather than just stocking  pre-packaged preparations.

We have "Chemist Warehouse", "Chemist Outlet" "Priceline Pharmacy" and fortunately still some compounding chemists who can make up your mixture or emulsion if required.

Chemicals and "the Chemist" appear to have different connotations these days!

"Drugstore" seems to be falling out of use, certainly, at a doctor's office they will ask 'which Pharmacy do you use?', and the actual locations themselves are always called Pharmacies, whether they are in a larger store, like Walmart or standalone, like Walgreens (no relation)
