Sometimes you bite the dog...

...sometimes the dog bites you!

----------------------------------------------------------

I can explain it to you...

...but I can't understand it for you.

I don't see an awful lot of answers to me original post  ;D

You got one from me and, presumably since nobody's come up with another nor contradicted mine, it must be correct  :thankyousign:

Having had a few beers, I'll go to bed.

All that's on telly here is BBC shows like Midsommer Murders anyway  ;)

Don't you know if there are any chemists there? ???
We have lots in Leyland but not many are open on Sundays.

From the internet, so it must be right!

Foaming Hand Soap. Truth be told, foaming hand soap is a form of liquid soap. It is derived from a diluted form of liquid soap that is infused with air to create a foamy lather as it leaves the dispenser. ... One chamber holds soap and one pumps air into the dispensing unit when the pump is depressed.

...and

Is foam hand wash better?
The research team suggests foam soap may be less effective than liquid soap because it comes out of the pump as a lather, whereas the liquid soap lather is built up in the process of hand washing. Also, the amount of soap in foam is markedly less in a single pump than is found in its liquid counterpart.

This is not a chemist's domain but in the physics one.

Please note: there is a huge difference between a chemist and a pharmacist.
To be called pompous and arrogant - hell of a come down.
I tried so hard to be snobbish and haughty.

Which begs the question, apart from the UK, which other English speaking (and I use the phrase advisedly  :D), countries, refer to the place where medications are procured as a chemist's shop?

In the US it's a pharmacy.

How about Oz, Canada, etc, etc?

I think they are being called that more in the UK too - I suspect the reason for the term "chemist's shop" is a hanging on from when such stores actually sold chemicals of all sorts, rather than just stocking  pre-packaged preparations.

In the USA I thought it was a drugstore?

We have "Chemist Warehouse", "Chemist Outlet" "Priceline Pharmacy" and fortunately still some compounding chemists who can make up your mixture or emulsion if required.

Chemicals and "the Chemist" appear to have different connotations these days!

My mate Al is a chemist, but he's busy with some project to transmute base metals into gold.

I dated a chemist once, but it didn't last long - we never bonded.

I'll get my lab coat.

Bealman

Al Chemist indeed.  :smiley-laughing:

I'm off out with me two mates Nick Otine and Al Cohol.

"Drugstore" seems to be falling out of use, certainly, at a doctor's office they will ask 'which Pharmacy do you use?', and the actual locations themselves are always called Pharmacies, whether they are in a larger store, like Walmart or standalone, like Walgreens (no relation)  :)
