Hi all its me again, what sort of paint do I use for buildings what sort for rocks and landscapes ?

Now there's a question which will get a variety of answers.
Personally, I use acryllics but others will use different paint types. If you are using scatter material, eg for grassy slopes or fields etc, I use acryllics patchworked very roughly across the chosen area but painted on thickly. Good to use browns, various shades of green, a bit of grey and even a bit of black.
Before the paint dries add your scatter (and again not too uniform as fields etc are rarely uniform). The scatter sticks to the paint and bob's your uncle. The paint may show a bit and thats why you need a variety of shades. Greys and blacks work ok for me for cliff faces etc.
Scenery wise I covered aviary wire with filler soaked kitchen roll but mixed the filler with powdered brown paint before application. I then painted it green with emulsion from a test pot before laying down scatter. That way, if it gets chipped in any way it won't show white (I hope!)
I use a similar method to Newport Nobby but use polystyrene from packing instead of wire .I mix poly filler with brown acrylic paint and PVA and paint that on with a big paint brush then cover with varios coloured scatter material and pat it down with the back of my hand before it dries .you can allways add a bit more scatter if youve missed anywhere.
For 3D printed kits I allways use acrylic paint ,but for metal or plastic kits I use enamal paint iether gloss or satin finish depending what the model is and wether it will have transfers on or not transfers are better on gloss paint then finished off with a satin finish ,Cars and lorries are better in gloss buildings are better in matt finish .
All this is of course only my preference other people may have their own methods there is no right or wrong way just what works for you.

On non porous surfaces I use acrylics but on porous surfaces like plaster of paris I use water colours or guaches. I find that because the plaster is absorbent the water colours blend better.

I prefer enamels to acrylics, but I know that's an unfashionable answer. They take longer to dry, but I find they work a lot better with my airbrush. Perhaps because they're cheaply thinned with white spirit!

Any old thing! Experimentation is the name of the game here. But tester pots, faded with copious quantities of cheap white acrylic, are my go-to option here. What I find essential is to pick one basic shade (say, terracotta) and then use white, grey, and black acrylic to create lighter or darker shades for highlights and lowlights.
