Also - be warned - I emailed Dapol about this problem a few days ago and there is no sign of a response. I haven't followed my email up yet because there's a good chance I'll be keeping my 22 now. However, this is not good customer service.

I've just re-sent an EMail I sent to Dapol regarding some questions on the new Maunsell coaches as I haven't had a reply after 3 weeks - it may well be that my original mail ran foul of their recent server outage, but if not, not a good sign.

I read somewhere that the customer returns system is not operational until the new year. I haven't heard anything from them - poor show eh chappies!!
Size matters - especially if you don't have a lot of space - and N gauge is the answer!

Somehow , I've ended up with 3 of the new Farish Duchesses winging their way to me , all at the same time , the earliest of which was ordered from Rails in June 2012 . Ooh , err , how did that happen ?? And , more importantly , just exactly how am I going to manage to justify buying one of the new 4fs sometime soon ??? Hmmm , this could be tricky ! Cheers , Ric

OK, so someone posted a link to bargain prices on Dapol stock at Cheltenham Model Centre - now I've got an Ivatt 2-6-2T on its way to me. At £50 I'm prepared to take the risk on a possible duff 'un (based on other people's comments) although my previous Dapol Steam purchases have been OK...

Notwithstanding my comment above, I have now managed to get this one on my test track, and my conclusion is that it is the biggest pile of :poop: I've ever come across. It made it about a yard before locking up solid and then on going backwards, making about 1 yard and a half before locking up solid again. The coupling rods all out of kilter, and no amount of readjustment makes a difference. One call to the retailer coming up tomorrow...

Following on from my last post regarding my Dapol Class 22 milk tanker set, I've now chipped it with a Digitrax DZ125IN ('borrowed' from another loco as I've got no spares), and copied all the CV's over from my other Class 22. It still runs a fair bit warmer than the other one, but has become far more controllable on DCC. At the moment it is merrily hauling its tankers around my track at a nice modest speed  :).

Before I chipped it, I tried it on DC again - it didn't run at all well using my Bachmann controller (the one that comes with the train sets), but when I used my old On-Tracks MPC3/N controller (a specific N-gauge one), it ran smoothly and controllably down to a crawl  ???!

D186 (BR Type 4) at the local model shop. I'm a sucker for 1-Co-Co-1's. I need to start saving for when Bachmann scale down their 40...

I think you need to make that 'bean on crumb' a few days of the week

You maybe right as I have just bought this a Aluminium N Gauge Case and trays for 42 coaches/locos, or over 100 wagons.

Ah someone I can ask then are they as good as they say they are. Do you keep all your rolling stock in them, and if so what do you do with all the empty boxes they came out of please.

If they are good will get another :worried: :o

I keep all my stuff in them.
I have yet to have any trouble with them.
One thing I do is keep locos in little clear polythene bags, makes them easier to lift out of the foam without bits 'catching'

Luke Piewalker

Oh, and for empty boxes I flat pack them and 'nest' all the inserts to reduce space. Then they go under the bed in a big cheap underbed box thingy I got from Ikea.
