Hello

I'm trying to modernise my loco stock with new items as my old Farish locos are at least 30 years old. The period is WR/SR around the transition from Steam to Diesel/Electric.

I've had two Gaugemaster 73, but both were faulty, so returned. Bought a Western class 52 and a short Brighton Belle and am very pleased with those.

The models that I've looked at are: N Class- only new weathered version available. New Warship and Hymek - pre-order. New Class 24 - pre-order. Class 121 - pre-order. Green EMU - 4 car pricey and no new models.

Just wondering what you are buying with all of these items awaiting release, or do you have more patience than me?

Regards

Newportnobby

As usual I seem to have loads on pre-order

RevolutioN Class A tank triple pack Esso Grey/Red
RevolutioN Borail EB twin pack (deposit paid)
Dapol Bulleid BoB 34066 'Spitfire'
Farish Warship plain green D820 'Grenville'
Rapido Class 28 Metrovick Co-Bo D5709 plain green
Dapol M7 0-4-4 black lined late crest
Dapol Class 27 2 tone green SYP D5382
RevolutioN Class 128 green speed whiskers M55987
RevolutioN Class 128 green speed whiskers W55994

I've left my order on for the Bulleid as, even though it's unlikely, Dapol still show it on their website. When the ordder book opens for the NGS Ferryvan I'll be after a couple of those as well :)

Continental locos and stock of various brands from ebay, mostly hardly used in mint condition and fair prices.

Most recently a Kato German ICE 4 seven coach formation direct from Japan. Basic set and addon coach set bought as two separate orders to stay below the £135 "HMRC take an interest" threshold :D  saved quite a bit on UK and European shop asking prices even with 2x postage.

I have a weathered N Class and a 24, both are superb locos. I'm aiming for a Hymek, M7 and a Schools in the next month or so. Schools first before they run out!

There isn't too much which interests me these days, I think I have enough! A few bits from Revolution; Pendolinos, IWAs, 59s. Got a reworked 90 coming from Mercig next month which will be good. Otherwise it's a few of my own 3D prints to finish off or build in quantities for myself!

Well not actually buying anything right now but eagerly awaited:

NGS Hunslet
Revolution DPU, 59, MTV stone wagons and whisper it a Pendo (I normally do WR 1958 to 1978 ish)
Dapol Sir Tom Moore (but will it ever materialise?)

Schools first before they run out!

I'm getting mixed reviews on the Schools class. I've only radius one curves; Dapol say it's OK to run, while a few members on here say "no".

I'm lucky enough to have 18" as my smallest radius. One of the reasons I scrapped my first layout and am now halfway through the new improved mk2.

My GWR/WR transition era stock is pretty much complete. In fact I have far more than would ever run on my modest BLT. One day I will build a bigger layout to show it off in all its glory. The only thing I am currently waiting for is RevolutioN's class 128 parcels car.

In the meantime I doing something completely different and have started collecting overhead EMUs. I have a Farish 350 and a 321 on order from RevolutioN. I will probably order a 313 as soon as the order book opens as I have nostalgic fondness for these humble PEP units. I may also get a Farish 319 to complete the set. The plan is a compact Minories-style Terminus layout. Something like Moorgate but a bit more open and without the underground alongside. This is the sort of image I have in mind.

Well, that's just not good enough. Some fount of all knowledge you are!   ;)

I'm extending my eras backwards to include mid to late 50s, and forwards to include the first class 59 (thank you Revolution!).
So I have two model eras: 56 - 69, and 70 - 77 (plus 1986 for the 59 and 1996 for the Eurostar!).

I got fed up with N a few years ago and started building up my OO SR EMU fleet (before the cost of OO EMUs went sky high) so I have a good layout's worth of OO locos and EMUs in BR Blue and coaches in blue-grey. The annoying thing about OO is the volume it takes up (8x that of N). Another good reason to stick with N.

I've been replacing my older locos like you, and now only have about 3 locos pre 2005 (a 1971 Peco Jubilee and two Farish Poole rebuilt BB/WC pacifics.
I'm stuck solidly in the SR/WR region though, but I still have a few interlopers, as I have a thing about green diesels.

I'd like to thin out my N collection but it is difficult. I keep selling things on EBay but the value of my collection keeps increasing!

Nine sets of loco numbers to renumber and re-line that number of locos.

Some are my kits, some are renumbering duplicates for a friend.

I'm trying to catch up with my 'to do' list, some of which dates from a few years ago............

Thanks for the replies. All bar one models UK railways, which seem to cover the years from the first nationalisation to the current regions. Seems to be quite a lot of waiting for new releases, as I am.

I've just ordered an NCB two-tone green and a British Steel yellow Hunslet.
Also on pre-order I've got:
Revolution's Class 59 original Yeoman version.
Sonic's LNER J50 in lined black.
Rapido's Co-Bo as preserved.
I'm also quite excited about Revolution's Cartic-4 and 1938 tube train and the NGS ferry vans. The Farish 158 in BR Regional and 319 in NSE livery are possible future purchases too. I think I might have a slight N Gauge addiction 😅
