stripping numbers of dapol locos

whats everyone preferred method of stripping numbers of dapol locos i got a few ews 66s that i want to change numbers not sure what to try strip them off with

mask round what you want to strip and spray on mr muscle oven cleaner.

leave half an hour, and rinse off, may need an old toothe brush if stubborn.

so far I have found that mr m does not seem to strip original farish paint, but will strip the printed paintwork,
ie I recently stripped some Transrail class 37s with it, took all the numbers, logos etc off and left me with nice pristine trainload triple grey bodyshells ready for new sector logos and numbers
